Thanks to everyone who advised me about my home karaoke setup. I wound up getting the RSQ NEO E500 because I got a great (<$150) price on it. It arrived Thursday and we're testing it out. So far, it does, as advertised, play CD+G discs (we tried various brands), CDs, DVDs, home-burned CDs, but not a data disc of MP3s...I can live with that.

HOWEVER...
When I play a music CD, it stops after every track, as if it were playing a karaoke disc and assumes I only want the selected track. Since this is serving as our CD player as well as our karaoke machine, that's driving my kids nuts.

The previous RSQ machine that I had (the one that worked for a day) had a "karaoke" button that you could press that switched from continuous play to single--track play.  I've already tried turning "karaoke mode" to off (with this machine that is an on-screen menu option only) and it doesn't seem to have worked.

As someone else has already reported, the manual is worthless.

Anyone have any advice?

yeah...

This unit is the successor unit to the RSQ505 that I have.

The way to play more than one track without stopping is the same.

http://www.rsqaudio.com/mini_player_neo-e500.html

On that page, you'll see the 36 page manual. (Right-click and save the document to your pc). Then, open it.

Go to page 29.

You'll see the "Select Play Mode". Change the option to "DISC" to play all the items on the disc.

I also found I needed to change the option to REP-ALL on the 505. I think it defaults to REP-ONE

It will only play one track at a time unless you set it to play the whole CD. The default setting on those is single play. Now, that is a good unit. The only problem i had with it, is that it is agonizingly slow to start a new CD. Which is pretty common in todays multi format players. Also, i couldn't get this player to play half my back up disc. It's probably the best you're gonna do with whats out there.

Thanks so much, both of you.
I feel like a moron, but I cannot find reference to "play mode" in the manual you linked, knightshow, and I also don't see a way to "set it to play the whole CD."

Karaoke for food, if you have this exact unit, can you walk me through the steps you use? What button on my remote or on the unit lets me set the play mode? I looked through the on-screen menus pretty thoroughly (I thought) and didn't see it.

Just "karaoke mode" off/on...which on the S-222 was the feature that turned on single-track play, but on this unit appears to have the purpose of disabling the 5.1 playback, but since I've only got it hooked up to 2 speakers I guess it does nothing.

"Rep-ALL" seems to have worked. I still can't find "play mode," but I guess that doesn't matter as long as it plays!

it was the first thing I had to do when I started the unit... after that, I was fine with it! Glad it's working for you!
