Yes, Sax N Dotty is using the external drive, it only imported the song locations into the database.
Also on the 2nd laptop, what version of Winamp are you using?

I too am having this exact problem...
I went to the geek squad, they said my PC was running slow (Toshiba, upgraged to 1.5gb RAM, 90gb HD, 1.2ghz processor) because of explorer, so I deleted everything and ran a recovery disc.
Then I went in, downloaded sax n dotty's again, winamp 5.35, and the plug-ins... yeah, no good. I can play winamp, no issues. I can open Sax and it appears to open winamp, but it gives me the "winamp not found, or not configured properly" screen.
I wish I have never touched a thing, I'm so frustrated right now! Any ideas?

Hey RLC I really appreciate your help. You were the one that figured out I just needed to import the songs, thats all it was. I just got home from vacation, when i get a chance I will pull out the second laptop and see what version winamp it is, but I really have the number 5.1 stuck in my head. Talk to yuo soon...thank you again for your help.
On a side note, I did download the $25 karaoke proggie that somebody recomended up top, and I absolutely LOVE it, it has a lot more features and I will probably use this one from here on out, and just not worry about this winamp problem.

Version 5.35 is notorious for causing problems with S-N-D
Simple fix---step back to a previous version of Winamp...may I reccomend 5.111
You can find it and other versions here--> http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=winamp
I run v. 2.95 on one and 5.111 on another...both work flawlessly ![yes ](./images/smilies/emot-nod.gif)

if you are talking of the sax & dotty splayer then install it into the winamp folder then after directing it to winamp for the first time you will have no probs...in fact if you right click on a zip it will give you the option of opening in sax & dottys. I have found this to be the easiest way to deal with it

RLC... you are the absolute best. I took your advice, ditched the winamp 5.35, went back to the 5.111, installed the 2 plug-ins, and I'm back in business.
Any benefits to upgrading Sax to the newest version (in your opinion)?
Thanks again for all your help, I truly appreciate it.

Thanks for the kind words.
If you are asking about upgrading to the newest Sax program "Digital Entertainer Pro" http://www.digitalentertainer.co.uk/
I will say this, I have played with it and while it does have a whole bunch of new and unique features (Singer history, Venue Handling, Rotation etc) many that are using it love it but I found it to not be for me, I am of the same opinion as knightshow .... keep it simple. Although when I say that I mean one screen in front of me and thats all...I have however incorporated some ideas of my own...if interested read this--> http://home.comcast.net/~randycreel/show_presenter.htm
Edit note: As you will see if you click on the "Digital Entertainer Pro" link above the site is far from complete as is the software as it seems to be a long term ever evolving prospect...another reason I probably was not interested in it.

The name of the $25 proggie was JustKaraoke 1.0 from tricerasoft.com. For $25 I was very pleased with its performance and what it offered, way way better than S&D, without the plug in hassles. Thank you whomever recomended it !!!!
