In fact I'm thinking of getting that particular helicopter that Gilly mentioned as well as the outdoor copter I have... The indoor ones I've seen don't require a 4 hour charge for 5 minutes of use.. Yep,  the remote requires 8 AA batteries on mine.. But it's fun..  I haven't destroyed it landing it yet which is better than some that can't figure out that you can't just let the throttle completely go to land the thing from 150 feet altitude..  They are fun tho.. I have no photos yet... That would require a type of multitasking that would certainly ruin the cam, copter, and likely I'd end up hurting myself

,  I saw the wreck,  but the good thing is those are foam and pretty tough to destroy right ?   Keep practicing.  I want to show you a few I'm looking at now,, they look somewhat appealing but I don't know how they compare to the model you and I were pondering at Wally's...  I'll post the copters I'm seeing online that are quick charge..

Ollie,  Here's my CVS 24.95 Helicopter.   It's considerably larger than the Wally copter, but the wally copter is a better copter..  rated really high among those that couldn't break theirs..

Mine is sitting atop a Zildjian 18 inch crash/ride cymbal so that should give an indication of it's relative size..


(This is the most use that drumset's had in a long time btw)   I should probably start up the prop on the copter to dust off the drumset

btw,  that microphone is an older Shure 525-SD (Switch).  The microphone on the boom stand at the babygrand in the other photo on the projects thread is a Sure SM-58..  When I'm not singing,  I like to make sure I'm not singing into a decent microphone..  Other Microphones around here are the SM-48, SM-57,  I have a headphone rig which is just a AT pro-series, a few beta-green bullets, and some other stuff laying around that I ocassionally twist my ankle on when not looking before walking.  A few older shure 525 actually... They get around 100 bucks to replace the gizzards on those things... Rediculous..

Hey Gilly !!   I'll PM her and see if she can address this..  Knowing GIlly she's good at all she tries to do,  so this would be no exception.  

Is there any room current that would possibly cause that Ollie ?  Crossdraft ?  Is there anything structurally off with the copter ?  Since those are so light is it possible that the slightest air current would cause that ?   Some spin upon takeoff is quite normal..  Do you accelerate the throttle fast enough to create vertical lift, as opposed to just low coefficient of  ground friction ?    What happens if you hold the lower part in your hand,  accelerate the prop and release it ?  Is the pull both upwards and to an extreme side ?

Ollie,   Flying the small copter indoors is likely MUCH more difficult than mine which is large outdoor field use only.  What I did prior to even taking mine out've the box was to read a few bboards to attempt to find out what NOT to do when beginning.  oh yeah...  Don't forget to learn how to attach a sign to it,  and fly it up to the 12th floor

I have twisted the rotor angle. At low throttle it scoots across the floor to the left More throttle it lifts the right side more than the left At hover it goes int CCW spin or drifts straight to the left  (after trimming to the right). I really dont know if its inexpereince or mal-adjustment. And I havnt hard crashed it yet..

I can make it spin CCW or CW in the middle of trim  it lifts right side and hovers directly to the left
The main shaft is not bent..

Is this a typical flight? I can do this

Ollie,  Assuming your copter can do what the young girl is doing in that first video,  it's functioning fine..  You just need to familiarize yourself with it..  A damaged copter couldn't do what she's doing..  Head over to You Tube,  and enter RC Helicopter,  You will see that spin is very normal initially..  It takes practice to fly a straighter path,  In fact I was reading regarding your particular model that sometimes because they are so light,  people actually have needed to put slight weight on the front to get them to move in a forward path...  Hold on,   Let me look up what I was reading...  A very light body such as that will be prone to side to side motion and spin,  but that girls copter is fine,,  Those are supposedly not that easy to break..  They seem to be durable...  Try flying yours in a larger open room for starters...  Where there's space in a decent radius of where you are standing with the control..  You also might need to set the potentiometer (assuming that model allows you to)..

I have one that I have had for almost a year, that has had the crap beaten out of it, but with some minor tuneups, such as adjusting the tail rotor, and the amount of forward weight, it still works terrifically. The things take quite the beating- surprisingly!

ANY air current in the house at all causes erratic movement (ie... fans,  the hot air from the baseboard heaters, and in our house, the entry from the basement)  With a LOT of practice, and being VERY delicate with the controls, you can overcome this. It has very sensitve controls, and it takes a lot of getting used to. Constant left right adjustments during flight will also keep it going straight. Don't rely on the trim alone to keep the aircraft from doing minor circles.  Also, excessive weight added to the nose causes a lot of instability, but the forward speed is more fun. (For example, Gilly's heli has NO added nose weight, and she has no problem flying it, but she can't fly foward quickly. However, she can't fly MINE (with all the added nose weight) at ALL, because it is too unstable.)

Other than all of that, I can only suggest a lot of practice, practice and finese. I picked it up very quickly (but have owned many much larger helicopters/planes), and Gill had a lot of problems and crashes at first.

Seriously though.   These aren't supposed to be that easy,  which is what I appreciate about them.  I was warned prior to getting one that just because it's a toy, doesn't make it a "piece of cake" to learn to use..  This was part of the appeal.. A remote control truck is boring..  These at least are challenging and so-far I haven't needed a helmet and knee and elbow pads to protect myself

Your much better than I am.   If I land mine standing up and not broken, as long as it doesn't get stuck in a tree,  or fly off into a nearby lake,  I'm happy.   I need to grab the airhog unit you have..  Is there a better unit out there ?  Not sure,  but the airhog comes highly recommended...  Ollie,  How long does that need to charge, for how much flight time ?   As I stated the problem with mine is it's 4 hours charge for about 5 minutes... Takes some of the fun out've it

Didnt find the dvd Tried it with partial charge there is a trim wheel on top 2 adjustments I can hover it steady. Im charging it up full Think I'll take it outside. It has a joystick L/R F/B
