What is your estimate of the number of songs that is made in karaoke format.

English songs only.

My estimate: less than 50,000 songs.

note:

Ive wondered the same Jian. We have tried to get a good DJ library and get the top 150 from each decade Ok for 5 decades thats 750 songs. (we do have over 9000) How many of those are played or remembred unless at a DJ show? Not to mention all the others that flopped.

I think now they are cranking out more than ever before that wont even be remembered next year. Should they even count . I dont think so Opinions....... Actual songs or albums you can walk into a music store and buy should be the numbers.

Ok how many per year will have the originality and quality to last? !000? I doubt it... 500 ? Maybe Thats 2500 songs for 5 decades.....

Maybe my thinking is totally off but it's a very interesting subject which I have thought about a lot.. In hindsight I wouldnt have 13000 karaoke tracks but a pruned number based upon the top 150 each decade. A good Kj could have a very good selection with about 1000 songs.

I would give my left arm to know what songs were played worldwide on a weekend What would that number be Jian? The actual number of different songs.

I do have 13500 with very few dups and there is a lot that I dont have but they never get requested. We hardly ever have a request (other than new or something not even out yet) that we dont have.

Well I would guess the number is over 50,000 with all of the companies out there that did their own discs - not counting dups.

I think you are giving too much credit - how about remembering next month?  Especially for most of the flavor of the week rock nowdays.  Very few bands that actually have staying power potential today combine that with the fact that the record companies don't push the type of 'supergroups' like they did up until the mid 80's-early 90's.  Make their buck fast & move on to the next.  There will NEVER be (ok MAYBE a handful out of all the thousands of bands today) another newer rock band that will last more than 2 or 3 major hits (if that).

I know I'm at 78,000 but that includes duplicates. I have almost 40,000 without dupes.

If there 318,000 in the KJ Pro Library I would guess somewhere between 110,000 to 130,000.

The number is growing much slower now days since they stoped making so many disc. In 2004 you could count on at least 100 new songs a month now it's about 30 to 40.
