Hey Johnny! Man, we have alot in common....we're both karaoke stalkers! LMAO
Not really, but that's the way I feel about it now......after hearing people talk on the subject here before.
But hey, I wasn't the one flirting with myself from the get go?
I wasn't the one telling a patron all about my personal life?
I wasn't the one embellishing a patron telling him I loved his voice?

Now she has a friend for life that won't go away. LMAO  LMAO  LMAO

Naaaahhhh, I'm just BSin' man. I don't get to attend the shows regularly anymore, but I call about once a month or so to check on my (friend).
She's real busy nowadays as well as I am. I miss the good 'ole days. I use to party down on karaoke nights, and never got outta line when others were making a$$es of themselves. So I guess I have my integrity still.  LOL

Just this past Saturday at 1:10am 2 girls and a guy walk into the bar. ( the guy I've seen before -Casinova type - tries to PICK UP anything in a skirt if you know what I mean)  ANYWAY ...   One of the girls stumbles over and picks up a book,  I politely inform her that we are no longer taking requests as the show is over at 1am and we just have a few more singers to get up.  She says okay! - 2 minutes later she comes back up and says ok we wanna sing SUSPICOUS MINDS by Elvis.

I AGAIN explain the show is OVER and she proceeds to beg as I tell her I'm sorry but NO. - 2 seconds late CASINOVA comes over like a big shot and says - WHAT ! she can't sing ONE song.  I again explain that the show WAS over 20 minutes ago and we have 1 last singer.  He offers to PAY ME which I refused ---in hindsight I should have told him for $25 she could sing ( little OT pay).

Whats with this drunks that spend 4 hours at another bar and then want to come in at closing and SING?    is it me ????

Then their response - "AH THEY WON'T KNOW, C'MON!"
Well YEAH they will know it as they have been here all night supporting the bar & the show & watching the rotation knowing that they are getting up & that we cut off taking anymore slips about hour ago!

I hate at my busy bars the people that think they are going to sing more than 1 song when they come in after 11pm. I go til 2am and stop taking request at 12:30 so I hate the people that ask me to sing after I have the rest of the night in front of me.

I just thought of another one that drives me crazy.  I played for an outdoor gig last weekend at a baseball diamond, with a small pavilion off to the side...well way on the other side, the had this festival set-up.  So here I am, some 50-75yds away and the organizer wants me to turn up the mic..because the people over there can't hear the announcements!  I mean, get real....everyone wants 'miracles'.  Over all the show went good, for a 1st annual festival with poor planning.  She booked me again for next year.......MrD

As a KJ, "When am I up?" 50,000 times wears on me after awhile and people who think my EV 18" subs, somehow, double as a table to place their drink whilst they are dancing.  Makes me want to go postal.   :madgo:  Any suggestions??

My KJ peeves- The same variation of Intros and Outros of the singers,  I can guess on when the KJ will say "Give a big hand" or "Let's hear it for" or "Allllllllrrrrriiiiiiiiight another great song by"    And the I feel like doing a song at any moment KJ to keep the flow going, but when I feel like changing my song to go with the flow someone gives a grunt.      The took a wrong restroom break or the I'm drinking too much to give a better show.      And my fave, I run my show and sing my songs, but when the club doesnt like it, I just pull the Race card.

My singer peeves- The Just because I'm a soulful ethnic guy with a deep voice I can pull any song and make it great (there's a reason Hall & Oates had a hit with Sara Smile and Barry White wouldn't make a dime from it)  The female singers who try to be the next Christina Aguilera and keep Oh-oh-oh-oh-ing and Grunt the first part of the song.    And the I just sing the same 10 songs and never change (no matter how many times Myself have sung 5 of those songs before he has a chance to put them up.   The stand up artist (sorry I yelled out the punchlines so you didn't get the big laugh you were expecting)   And can the 45 yr old look and act 45?  Quit singing Britney Spears and showing the sunspotted cleavage.

It bugs me when I'm tearing down and someone repeatedly yells "One more song" from the crowd and sometimes gets others to join in on the madness. Do I go to their work and ask them to work for free after close? No, that would be crazy.

My crowd now pretty much knows closing time is closing time. But I had this guy last week start the one more song chant. Aaarg ! So I grabbed the mic and said " That guy must be new and laughed". It worked like a charm.

I have learned in the past that doing one more song turns into me doing several more songs. Then they think they can talk you into it every night you work. I'm sorry, but this is a job to me and I have work in the morning and a family waiting for me to get home. I don't like a mob of people yelling for me to stay and work for nothing. If there is enough singers before I close up the owner will pay me to stay, so ask the owner.

to you KJs with problems of people sitting on and using your subs as tables I had a thought...ever seen those spikes they use to keep pidgeons from roosting? LOL... you could stick some on the top of your subs so they wouldn't be able to sit or place a drink on them.  :rotflmao:

I think that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen - I do know you were joking, but someone might be actually stupid enough to incorporate it.

Oh m'god! I'm sitting here holding my stomach and yee hawing.....totally unladylike! All I can say is if they do it "More power to 'em" and if they get sued...well.... can't think of any one who would deserve it more!  :rotflmao: Seriously though- I used to have sturdy tables that made the subs too high to sit on and too high to comfortably put a drink on as well and I had HUGE sign on the front that said "No Drinks- they will be tossed" The waiters loved to "patrol" my back speakers- they knew if they tossed a drink- it would have to be replaced and they made more money. It only takes losing a cocktail one time for any dumbazz to learn not to do that. If "I" caught them putting a drink on one- I'd hand it back to them and say drink it or lose it. There were large trash cans right beside both speakers so I could just toss em. I kept a fly swatter for the persistent "climbers" I actually spanked several bimbos, some in  mini skirt's when they tried to climb up on them. I popped their fannies as hard as I could. And I would tell them "NO M'AM! in a manner that let them know I meant it! " Dance on the tables or the bar but NOT my speakers!" I also rudely Yanked a few away as they tried to lift a leg to start the climb. I would throw them out if they did it again. My regulars also helped out. If they saw it happening and I didn't they would tell the person that wasn't allowed and if that didn't stop it- they got my attention. But you have to Ok this with your bar owner first too. I told mine that unless he was going to take responsibility for my equipment- I had to be able to control my crowd- he never questioned anything I did. Some of the girls I spanked beyotched a little but everyone told them to stop being babies and that they deserved what they got. That was the end of it.
