I'm supposed to email my songs I'm going to sing for a shin dig this Fri nite to the people running the KJ outfit..

It started out as I was to burn them on disk in the order to sing and send the disk.. fine great.. no problem.. they would then load them into their computer.. well doesn't sound like they can rip the CDG part from the disk into the computer and weren't planning to use the actual disk..

So now I'm to email them my song list and they are thinking they'll just pull the songs from their list of karaoke backings.. um.. no.. I want the brand/version I'm familiar with since I'm supposed to put on a "show" for 30 minutes.. basically unrehearsed with thier versions..

I dont want to be surprised with a different key.. tempo, backing singers, etc. but for some reason people in my area don't seem to understand there's a huge difference in karaoke backings for the same songs.. versus vendor..

So ok.. I'm going to email them MY backings instead.. do I need to send them bin files like I"d have burned to disk? or do I need to send zip files?

Help??

Zip files at the highest possible bit rate, because that will be the format use with the pc.

Ask them what format they would like the songs in.  Most hosting software uses zipped or unzipped MP3+CDG karaoke files however some has proprietary formatting mostly to keep people from shifting to another hosting package.  If you don't like suprises, ask.

you COULD send them via .bin fila via yousendit... but that's your choice.

Usually a compressed file of 192kbps is okay enough to encode to send to them, providing they know what they're doing.

lol yeah MAtt.. I'm not sure at this point.. that's why I figured I'd ask some others for thoughts on what I should send or guide them towards lol

They told me they have thousands of backings so if they aren't able to rip from disk, then they must be getting them thru some other method to load onto their computer right??

but one of the phrases used was..  karaoke thingys.. so I hesitated to ask more indepth lol

I sent a test run ZIP file so we'll see where it goes from there I guess..  if all else fails.. I picked songs I pretty much know the words to, just am really nervous having never sung for 30 min myself before and wanted to have the crutch of the monitor there "just in case" to help with nerves ya know..

Cindy why not put them on a usb key and take them with you? that way you still have ultimate control. YOu can still email them to ask if they use them zipped or unzipped...but you still maintain ultimate control over your material and have everthing ready to go for them

Yeah Vicki that was a suggestion I gave them too.. but they want everything preprogrammed in before Friday.. so they didn't want me handing them my thing as I arrive..

its working out ok tho.. I sent my list and which versions I want.. they had 1/2 my list and I'll supply the other half..

:) thanks!
