For the most part the difference between the two would be the design of the cabinet, the PA speaker more than likely has a provision to mount on a pole and both sides are cut identical. The monitor cabinet is designed to set on the floor and angled up at the performer, some newer types are made with the horn in the vertical position and are cut in a way that will allow a 60 degree angle or a 45 degree angle (roughly).In a lot of cases the internals of the cabinets are identical even though sometimes the monitor might have a tighter dispersion on the horn. I've seen some that are designed in a way that they could be used as a floor monitor or a pole mount frontal speaker.
As far as the mic, if you're asking that question i'd have to assume that your mic cable is a 1/4 phone plug verses a balanced XLR. To the best of my knowledge I would think the mono plug would be the choice as your mic would only have a mono 1/4 phone plug on it. The way to determine that would to look at the plug, if there is only one separation along the shaft it would be considered a mono Tip/Sleeve plug. If there are two separations on it, it would be considered either Stereo or balanced which would be a Tip/Ring/Sleeve.Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
