Those of you that play some guitar, even keyboards here are some chords and lyrics if you'd like to try Dog and Butterfly by Heart.

If you wish to see chord diagrams, just check the appropriate box on top and it'll show you guitar fingering position.

Differences in rhythmic structure between funk, samba, bossa nova, mamba.
I thought Carioca Funk, and Latin Funk, as well as Brazilian Funk incorporated ALL of these styles :headscratch:
The reason I'm wondering this is because drummers (trapset) taking tests must distinguish between the above styles and play them. I wouldn't have a clue how one differentiates ! Mamba and Samba vs Funk ? To me they ALL are incorporated in Funk  or maybe not traditionally ?
Are there any Latin American members that can educate me as to the difference between Mamba, Samba, Bossa, and types of Funk ? Things have changed over the course of the last 1/2 decade

There is some thing funny about this thread: I can't open the last page.
Anyhow here is a very talented Malaysian singer who can sing both English and Malay song. This link to her singing when she was in the malaysian Idol. I may post links to some of her other songs latter:

Yes Jian, It appears this thread has a ghost last page where when clicked, the following message appears
"No posts exist for this topic."

Please post links here ! That's why I formed this, so we can ALL share MANY different styles world-wide of singing and instrument playing, ALL aspects of music !
There is some amazing talent in the East ! For some reason (and I can't figure out why) when we hear of some of the best guitarists, and musicians in the popular genre, we don't hear much about Eastern musicians and singers. Any idea as to why this is ? American guitarist magazines, and Musician magazines in general don't seem to include Oriental, and Eastern country Musicians. I can't understand why. Is it Western "ego" related perhaps ?
IE.... Ryo Kawasaki is an amazingly good guitarist now based in NY (I think), and even HE isn't much discussed in the fusion genre of playing (which I believe was big even in Asia in the late 70's up until around mid-1980's) !
Anyway, I'm listening to that link now Jian, and I'll get respond afterwards, thanks !
Regarding the guitarist I'm thinking of, I don't think he was Japanese, MIGHT have been Malaysian (although his name had about 4 syllables for his first name, and 4 syllables for his last name as I recall). Very Asian sounding, but as I mentioned his mode of playing was very noticeably more of an Asian sounding scale which was VERY interesting, Japanese playing I believe has been Western sounding for a LONG time, this was noticeably more asian sounding, Assuming he was Chinese I don't think his name would've sounded as it did. HE SHOULD be listed in the library of the earliest laser discs ! I VAGUELY also recall his country might've not been a "free" country (at least during that time), perhaps one of the communist block ?
I think the Laser Disc was a live concert !

I noticed the last page ghost also.
The Greatful Dead - This band was an experience. I'm glad I was able to take in the over all experience at least once.
I was never a big fan of the Greatful dead either, but was talked into going to a concert. I'm so glad I did. What a hoot ! We had more fun in the parking lot than actually going to see the band. It was like stepping back into the 60s. I doubt a band will ever have such a following like they did.

Probably not Babs. It was a very different time period. "Hippy movement", full time groupies, rebellious period where somehow more seemed to be able to get away with following a rock group ALL over the country than you'd see today.

Once again, Buyer Beware.
While I laughed hysterically reading this early AM today, it WOULD NOT be funny for the person who believes they are getting the "real deal".

This is also a handy link regarding what's circulating in the auction and online markets.. I like this site since it gives great info on something we guitarists and wooden instrument players need to know about... Fixin stuff !

Wazzup with page 27? That's downright freaky, karaoke scene forum ghosts are at it again:)
(edited in, when I posted this, and clicked the "view your message"... it told me "no topics exist" again... strange how you have to go to Page 26)
Hey Steven, I played a 71 Martin D-18 at the county fair last night, it was a pretty decent sounding acoustic. (even... with me playing it) LOL
I met a guy who came by our tent, saw my son's guitar there (Harley brought his guitar, then left it sitting with me half the day, Lol) , and we struck up a conversation (naturally).. turns out he was in the talent show, and he made it to the final round, the guy was a hell of a flatpicker... he played a pretty awesome original composition. If I go saturday, I'm gonna take the camcorder and film his next performance.
Anyhow, he brought the guitar over and let me play it, it was pretty cool. Nice to get my hands on a decent one once in a while:)
