I was just curious if anyone had any experience with them and what their thoughts might be. Like which model compares to the SM58 and does it have the same proximity effect.

Audix makes some really good wired mic's

I have used the OM2 and OM5 in my shows. They are very durable and sound great however the only drawback for me was that inexperienced singers or those with quiet vocals do not fair well with these mics as they need to be held close to get the best sound and volume.

I much prefer the Shure SM58 Beta's to Audix

The OM-2 is the 58-equivalent. I find it works well -- I own one. I think it would work well for karaoke, though I use that one at for my second karaoke unit at home while putting up my Sennheiser 945 and SM-58 for gigs. (Just goes to show you how crazy I have gone over this -- I have two complete pro setups and don't do more than just volunteer gigs.)

I have tried the OM-5, and it sounds more like the Beta 58. But unlike the Beta 58, it has a pretty tight pickup pattern and probably is not real good for karaoke.

The AUDIX-OM2  is my favorite corded microphone, it has the highest (gain before feedback) mic that i've ever used and a smooth uncolored midrange.

Audix mics are not bad for the price. I have a handfull of Audix drum mics.

The 2 best new corded mics on the Market are AKG D5 and the C5. The have the documented highest gain before feedback in their price rance. The also have a new magnet design giving them more output power and response.

I picked up one of each for my live sound apps. I use all wireless systems for karaoke.
