No,  not in REAL life,  in here !  or a main room..  whatever members and "the powers that be" wish for.

In many reasonably large Internet rooms with groups of regulars it's not uncommon to have annual awards ceremonies.  Purpose is fun, and positive humor with the ocassional RAZ ! (For those of you that tend to post too much, etc).  With categories such as "Most Changed",   "Most likely to...",    Sometimes a small committee forms to think out the questionaire, etc.

Might be fun...  Sort've a way to honor individual members in categories, multiple categories for achievement and [strike]deficits[/strike]quirks alike  :reddevil:

It's scary thinking about what one could qualify for. Hmmm... is there going to be a "Tequila makes her clothes fall off" award?

Steven, that might be fun. If one person, or two, would offer to be the one taking the nominations and such. (still not sure if I'd want personal involvement tho.. I get carried away much too often, people would judge me unfairly... )

Wait,  Where did I volunteer myself as organiser of this event ? I have to make arrangements to hire a fork-life operator, and people that know how to handle loaded wheelbarrows so I can get my awards home !

I was JUST thinking about this last night!  I was thinking like Superlatives in High School, like Most likely to Make it Big or Best smile and such.  I think a voting system would have to be put in place and someone would have tally all that.  But as for the rest I LOVE the idea!

sounds like a good idea magz, with maybe a list of nominees and then the poll being secret instead of open like it normally is so everyone is still in the dark come awards nite...except of course Kappy who is organising it

There's a questionaire with the poll questions on it mailed out to room members (by an individual on the "awards ceremony committee), and this questionaire is mailed back to THAT person..

Numerous categories, I mean MANY are thought up, (fun categories). And, some individuals will fit into mulitple categories, so balancing is left to those on the committee..  As long as it's kept KIND-hearted, and teasing is light It's always a fun event !   There needs to be a committee that ulitmately tallys and decides and presents, etc

Why don't you head the committee ?  I'll help,  I just don't want to be "in charge" of anything in a place I come for fun at this stage in my life. To much stuff going on in my actual life now,  no more authority or control for me online, I can't be in charge of another project !

Yet these are fun events !   A committee for this would be a good idea.  Should probably include a mod like Sharon, or Jian too perhaps.  I'd say Lonnie, but for some reason I tend to doubt he'd enjoy helping to organise this type thing..

Bab's,  both you and jian outdid me for Mayor !

Jian was a great welcoming committee a few years back,  he made a few of my America Online buds that joined with me (during that time period) very comfortable in the chatroom, since he was kind enough to chat with people he didn't already know.

And all anyone has to do is look in the Newbie room, and see how warm you are welcoming the newbies..  I'd have to defer as mayor.  You've got it way over me as mayor !

However,  If somebody thinks up a :seated wannabe standup: category, I might qualify !
