We used it for a couple of years and made some money with it but it is basic  karaoke only. I know freebies that do that google pykaraoke.

The install order is not critical but have the sound engine installed before initiating the software.

Altough Im in the second (third year?) with roxbox if I shift again it will be compuhost

I do like some of the visual enhancements/effects in Compuhost.

I havnt tried it for a year or two but what impressed me was it tracks what songs you have played for the last year If id had that years ago I would trim the library even further. The next thing was it is efficiency When cavs started giving the option of putting scenes behind the graphics it was a resource hog with compuhost this no problem.

It competes with hoster and in some ways is better. They are the two best right now.

Why would you want to do this? I sang with Compuhost and some swimming fish graphic behind the words. Now I know all the words to my songs, so it didn't bother me. But I could see why someone else would have trouble.

Well I would never put an animated graphic behind it, but I would like to have the option to put a standard picture behind the graphics - like for special occasions or just to play with some regs tht would appreciate it.

I dont use the slides but I was trying to make the point it is not a resource hog. When cavs came out with their sp player it locked up the computer at times.

Edit:    The sp player was capable of putting slides behind the graphics Even when not using it the computer would lock up after a period of time. That and the fact that only one screen was availible was a reason to shift to S&D

I approach computerized karaoke from the opposite angle.

K.I.S.S.

Keep It Simple, Stupid!

It's a common "rule" of almost all types of business, so to me, why should karaoke be any more complex.

You rip the tracks to computer... play on computer in as simple a format. No need to have runaway processes grab more memory or more BUS traffic. It's a player only to me, and that's why I never had any issues that I can remember.

First off, stay away from Winamp v5.35 - heard of many problems with it-at least from Sax N Dotty users.

Secondly I am not sure why there are so many Sax N dotty bashers...I find the program to work wonderful and is simple. At the end of this post will be a link to a "long" document entailing how I use Sax N dotty  (Show Presenter to be correct) and a bunch of other plugins, utilities and programs....please read, you may find it of interest. Having said that I would also recommend downloading all of the different demos and find the one you like. I too looked at Compuhost and found it quite interesting as was Rox Box and MTU"s Hoster interesting also, although I am not a big fan of the all in one application, such as Compuhost and MTU...to each his own..that is why there are multiple programs out there to choose from.

Now here is that post....   http://home.comcast.net/~karaokejustbec ... senter.htm

Recently (within 2months) I asked the S&D people if they would add a new feature. They responded...NEVER..I asked.."never-say-never...why"..they said they stopped any new development on S&D...that sealed my decision.

Sax says that he's in the middle of a rewrite of all the applications, so I believe no  new development until that has been completed.
