Speakers against a wall puts out a lot more power. In fact a bass in a corner or speaker mounted next to the ceiling in a corner can double or triple the power. Thus they dont be driven as much.

At that distance with proper gain structure there shouldnt any feedback It is the novices that hold mic at arms length are a different story though.
