I' m trying to set up a light weight system, here's what I've got... mackie cfx12, bbe somthing , don' remember the number, out to JBL powered speakers, which have XLR connectors only...the bbe has rca and 1/4 inch only, I think the new bbe has xlr but I already have this one..is there an adapter from 1/4 to xlr female or ???

Yup just google 1/4 to xlr adapter
Another way is replace the xlr with 1/4" The wire that goes to pin 2 on the xlr goes to the tip. The other wire and shield goes to the ring...

Hi:
As an alternative, you can wire the BBE into the CFX12 using the main insert and use the main XLR outs directly from the CFX to the speakers.
Cheers

Exactly! You would just need a send return cable - all 1/4" - for each channel. Would look like this:
Plug the TRS (stereo) end into the right channel of the 'MAIN INSERT' on the mixer, the tip will go to the input on the BBE & the ring will go to the output on the BBE. Do the same for the other channel.

What verision of JBL's are you using? I use pretty much the same setup. JBL EON G2's, BBE 882i, CFX12 mackie mixer. All the JBL powered Eons that I have come across have 1/4 inserts. I do have a JBL 10 that doesn't have XRL insert.

I'd agree with Lonman. I use Hosa cables with great success. I am using Mackie mixer with it to loop back from my effects box and it sound very clean and have had no issues with the quality of the sound.

Ive modified my df12 Above 9/10 11/12 is normalled out from the bypassed EQ thru a BBE 362 and an Aphex 104. Since send 2 is post I like to run the faders at -3 to -6 db. This is feeding the 362 with less than unity. On a track that doesnt need processing it has little effect one that does it does its job.
I have seen posts on other forums that the 362 screws it up that is because they are overdriving it Just tickle it!!!
The cables to and from is the shacks instrument cables. In a rack all the units share a common heavy ground This is the advantage of 19" rack. The inter-connects are not that critical even with video or RF but there is nothing wrong with Hosa

Funny indeed.....I just haven't had good luck with anything by Hosa. especially the "spaghetti" type preformed stuff in the picture. I wouldn't use that cable on anything i own. Of course for entry level home setups i guess it would work. Hosa does make a line that is not to bad. But they sure aren't the ones in the picture. And on that great Mackie board, i would sure use the the best cable i could afford to use on any serious audio setup. The weakest link besides your speakers in your audio chain, are your cables. I cannot stress enough the importance of good cables in your audio setup. I find it truly amazing how some people will spend $1000's of greenbacks on gear, and nothing on cables. I prefer as i stated to make my own. But if i were to recommend, as i hate to do, a "Premade" interconnect. I would go on the Low side, Monster, Proco, Markertek Patchadaps, Canare GS-6 in almost any configuration. For a good medium priced interconnect. I would choose AudioQuest Sidewinders, Belkin Cable's Silver Series $20-$50 range an excellent cable, or the BetterCable Silver Serpents, are just fantastic cables. But as i said, the ones we build ourselves are always the best in the long run. For instrument cables, only ones i use are GeorgeL's.

The cable used in am, fm, and tv studios (audio and video) is Belden

......i am well aware of the "Belden" Cable Company, thanks for pointing that out. I have used miles of "Belden" cable the 8410 and 8412. In fact i still have some of the balanced 8412 cables i made back in the 80's, they are still working great. I was refering to the "Belkin" cable co. They make every kind of cable you can think of, from unbalanced audio interconnects, to USB cables. I think you can find the belkin USB cables at staples. They make a variety of preassembled cables in many configuration. I was under the impression everyone was discussing "Premade" Preassembled" cables, not raw cable by the foot such as belden, canare, and mogami to name just a couple...or is it by the "meter" today.... :worship:

Quote: he connectors used are bnc At KTVS we moved the studio from downtown out to the transmitter site and had to literally run cables from the news set to the control room and then to the transmitter room. Other than RFI or hum, audio is fairly easy. Video has to be properly terminated and at the switcher the delays from each source has to be adjusted and synced. With RF when you run high UHF with cable at 100' the signal is totally attenuated. In fact if you bend the cable 90 degrees it kills it..
I too have emptied 1000 ft spools of cable Rg 49 Rg 59 and Rg11 Believe it or not RG11 plenum now is $2 a foot!!! I have installed antenna systems in trailer courts and complexes. At one time as CE of a small tv station KTVS Sterling co, we moved the studio from downtown to the transmitter site on the ridge. I never got so tired of putting on bnc connectors in my life.
For about 8 years I worked with 50 pair cables on a WWII cruiser....And hooked up 50 pin duesth plugs to the video camera on the radar mount... I have seen the shield so corroded ypu had to cut off 2 feet to get to clean bright shiny copper again
I think I will go get some Belden to hook up the JBL's Which one do ya think?
A few years ago I got a 500 ft spool off of ebay I think it is out of Italy called Audible Purity.. It is the nicest soft pliable cable yet. I used it for speaker runs and mics... It might be better than Belden!!!

You're givin' away yur age there karyoker.....I remember "barely" as a kid in high school, working for what was then called GTE {General Telephone and Electronics}, it's "Verizon" today. But cleaning banks and banks of the old step by step connector switches. Also i was taught how to make cables in the phone company as well. We would replace the cables on "Buttin's" and the operators...yes they were real girls back then, not computers, ..their headset cables. Best part about that job, was talking to the operators. I remember i started in high school for 65 cents an hour. We even replaced the cables on the handhelds radios in the vans. You would think after so many cable builds, i would hate to build them. But i still enjoy every fiber i roll back, every wire i strip, and every piece of foil i unpeal. I stayed with the telephone company for 16 years. I have one brother who retired from the phone company, and two brothers still with them.

Boy you are a pro from way back. I thought it was illegal to be your age.... All in fun my friend. Correct me if i am wrong, but are you talking about the old butterfly type "Twist" connecting? pigtail type? Thank goodness.....i came after i had to do those. Yes i have seen many of them. But i am a baby don't forget. Nope we had the "Scotchloks" connectors by then thank goodness. And the 3M Scotchloks were actually invented by 3M for the telephony industry. But some of those guys, and i just know by your writing, you were one of them. Could do those Western Union Splices as pretty as a little girls braided hair. I use to look at those and just marvel at the even twist, yep..a lost art form for sure. I really respect you guys who have actually done that type of work. It's above me. Your Buddy George

The secret to to a western union splice is a perfect 90 degree angle in both ends.. Then with needle nose pliers hold the 2 wires together with the bends tight... And a close wrap... With solid copper wire it is not that difficult With barb wire it is a very loose wrap With new barb wire it can be done.. with old rusty wire it is almost impossible
For those not familar with this splice
