I remember the old sun lamps from high school. Dangerous things. I guess you are safe though Kappy with that magic saliva of yours. It brings new meaning to licking your own wounds.

Those aren't safe.  In fact they are all out dangerous.  People have been blinded, ended up with 3rd degree burns falling asleep, and serious probs..  We are talking about things that you don't allow yourself to get too comfortable when using.  First exposure is something like 2 minutes, and you don't really up the time by much.. I think college days using Helium Arc-Welders for metal shop were safer than these things !  In fact they were, less exposure to ultraviolet.  They've fallen into classifications of other common "safe' items.. such as "Jarts". "air-rifles", and other things that people have hurt themselves with

Thank you Lon  - You may have saved some white butts  LMAO

I don't know why nobody tells you this stuff before you tan - they make you sign your life away, but tend to forget to tell people how to use the darn beds.

Because what you are signing is basically a waiver alleviating the place from being held responsible that and the fact that the little girls that work behind the counters generally have the IQ of an eggplant & don't know/remember to tell people or just don't care since they are making minimum wage & snub anyone that don't have a tight midriff.  We were small enough, 3-4 employees that took many of the classes & safety classes on the beds & would explain things to people - we actually took several customers from the major chains, unfortunately our partner that was supposed to help financially for the first year for running costs decided to drink & party more so everything pretty much came out of our own pockets from the start, so after 2 years (and being voted best tanning in Puyallup - here was a write up in the Treasures of Washington http://www.treasuresof.com/View.aspx?treasureId=1090 ) we had to sell - the new owner has hired all the people that we shy'd away from & it's being reflected.
Also there are people who insist on going daily - I think they look like Hell personally because they are SOOOO dark - and don't burn.  The 'white' butts  :D are the ones that really need to take it easy - especially starting out.

LMAO Boy you hit that one on the head !! I hate to stereotype, but you can walk into just about any tanning salon and find these creatures. (Blonde hair, blue eyed, bubbled headed, valley girls) It really doesn't make much sense to me to hire these girls. Most people that I see go to a tanning salon are woman. They should hire good looking men.

We had LOTS of men coming in, but probably every 1 guy it was 3 women.
They hire the girls like that because that's the image, the cute little hardbody.  Another thing we found out is most women (again primary customers) don't want to see these 'perfect' little things.  My wife always joked with the customers that came from the chains & complained about the 'hotties', she'd always say we don't hire hotties, we hire luke warmies  :)

I started going to a tanning bed to get a little sun before I go on vacation. We're going to be at a bunch of water parks, so I didn't want to ruin my vacation by getting burnt the first day. So instead I get burnt by the tanning bed.  LMAO

I went 3 days for 10 minutes and did fine, so I upped my time a little. My back side burnt so bad I couldn't sleep all night. Sitting is a chore too.

Now 3 days later and ton of aloe vera my a$$ is still killing me.

This is a warning to all fair skinned white butts out there. Beware of tanning beds.  LMAO

Hi Babs,
I used to go to tanning beds all the time.
I've done the same thing many times.
Going in for a few days for less time then upping the time too soon.
I found out that with my fair skin I have to go for 7 minutes,
then up it by a minute each week gradually.
I've burned A$$, and my B@@BS! It makes it painful to wear undies/bra.
I feel your pain. Been there, done that, a bunch of times.
Sometimes it took 2 or 3 weeks before I would peel.
I hope you are healing & don't peel.
I have a life time membership, but only go to get a little color now.

True,  Not for those positions.  Behind a counter is such a waste of earning potential for such gifted women !

I think we need to take this to a new thread...... call it "Babs' Hiney Update"

Keep aloe vera gel on them Babs, or pure vitamin E...... they'll be back to squeezable in no time at all.  :D

I don't fake bake, but umm..... when you go back in there, try getting on your knees (the woof woof position) and sticking your bum in the air.... that might fill in the white lines and even them out;)

(and get pics if you do that)

>Charmin should behave<  :D

The white lines are either pressure points (you should turn over about halfway through) from where you lay OR there was a slightly ajarred support rail in the bed itself (less likely).  If you don't want any lines of any kind, the best bet is the stand up beds.

put on about 90 lbs.  Nobody will even notice them !   Unless of course those white lines are your legs.   In which case I'm stumped.   Of course cutting your legs off is an option too, that way you can be stumped as well !   For even more of this type quality advice remit $25 to Kappy's Healthy Solutions !

Here's a song,  don't say I never sang for you folks !

Girls in white dresses With blue satin sashes
Slowly disrobing white lines 'neath burnt a$$es
knee-chest in tanning beds
showing their blings
These are a few of
My favorite things

Why not feature a different KS females hiney each week ?  I think that would be much more fair.   I shudder to think of all the females in KS just dying to tell us about their butts !   Call me a bleeding heart but I just hate to see feelings hurt and people feeling left out,  It just isn't fair !
