Just a heads up, I purchased a SCDG off of ebay recently and when I recieved it it was clearly a home made copy right down to the memorex slogan on the center ring. Technically it is "new" as listed on ebay but I still feel scammed. To top it all off the seller sent a price sheet with the disc for about 35 other collections and some hard drives he is selling!

What should I do? Keep the disc?  Report the guy to someone? Call him out on the coppies when leaving ebay feedback?  I an just really dissapointed and not sure what the right course of action is here.

Report it, at least to ebay.  If you used Pay Pal the worst that will happen is that you will get your money back.

You definitely report him to ebay for selling bootleg discs, as well as leave it in his feedback so others will know that they're not original copies.  You also should file a complaint with paypal to get a refund.

Ebay takes people selling bootlegs very seriously, they're on your side.

I'm really surprised at bootleggers after all the focus and prosecutions from Ebay scams lately in the news.

I tell you what I don't like about Ebay...They make their money from the SELLERS. So, when you get screwed guess who they like to back? Example: I won a bid. The guy emails me and says the shipping was gonna be twice the price as listed on the auction ($50). I emailed back and told him that I wasn't happy but I would pay but it wasn't right. He said if I felt that way I might give him a negative anyway so he wasn't going to ship it and refund my money. Since he was legally bound to sell me the merchandise and was agsinst Ebays policy to raise the price I gave him a negative feedback. Well he gave me one too. Since he had broken EBAY's rules I contacted them and asked if my negative could be removed, after I sent them his emails as requested. They would not remove my negative feedback because there was nothing against policy like name calling or slander etc. So ebay feedback is a blackmailing joke. If you give it you will get it. The only sellers that have my respect are the ones who give you feedback after your good job is done and that's when they get their money.

Hey Total Magic... You're right about E-Bay's Feedback being a joke. There are a lot of spiteful Sellers out there that will/do retalliate when they are given a negative feedback. E-Bay will NOT remove it from your record (regardless of the situation). but, when someone leaves you a Negative Feedback, you are given the opportunity to respond back (so that everyone can see what you have to say in your defense (for those that actually do count a person's feedback for something)).

T-Dogg, you should definitely report this Seller to E-Bay and leave him a negative feedback (indicating why).  As for what you said about the disc technically being new, that's not true. The disc itself may have been new, but the SC disc you paid for was not! If it was, it wouldn't say MEMOREX on it.

Yes, this is exactly what I don't like about Ebay...you CAN'T leave negative feedback for someone out of fear that you'll also get negative feedback.  A lot of times you have done nothing wrong.....except for leaving it for some one.  It's a joke.  I don't know what the fix is, I just know that it's not working!!!  As far as the illegal copy goes.  I would be pissed.  Report it, get your money back.  MrD

Thanks everyone, I did report the seller to ebay, but out of fear of having negative feedback I decided to contact the seller first to see if he could send me the original. When I logged on today I had recieved an emailfrom hin that he would be issueing a full refund and tonight my paypal acct shows the refund has been issued for the full amount.
On an interesting side note I decided to try and buy the chartbuster essential in the SCDG format  from DTSkaraoke and they told me chartbuster was no longer making the SCDG discs due to a licesing issue not yet resolved (if ever), and they were already sold out.

yeah, chartbuster IS trying to play it right nowadays... I'm unsure if their earlier fubar was about ignorance of the law, or there's since been a change in management to reflect their growing compliance...

They DID get sued for their earlier licensing problems... so I'm guessing it was a pretty substantial penalty.
