The CAVS is more expensive, you need an external cd rom drive to import cdg's, it does have their own download site, music quality - eh>!
The Acesonic is cheaper, has it's own disc reader internally (not sure if you can add an external if needed).
If I were to choose i'd probably opt for the Acesonic myself. Whichever you decide upgrade the hard drive to the biggest you can afford - before long you are going to be wondering how you filled up a 250gb hard drive so fast!

I think I'd go with the acesonic but to tell you the truth I personally believe the only good piece of equipment CAVS ever made was it's CPA-240 Amplifier. I had one and loved it to death as it gave me fantastic control over the music and vocals. I had it and a pair of Radio Shack speakers sounding like my buddy's system which comprised a rane mixer, crown amplifier and JBL Eon speakers.

I agree with the other two.
If I were to look at these two options, I'd go with the Acesonic.
If the CAVS unit were more widely supported by the manufacturers, that might tip the odds in my favor. However, recent news with the karaoke manus tells me that owning the original discs is definately the way to go. Convert your discs to WHICHEVER format... no matter your choice, you'll at least own the discs if there's ever a huge law decision against computerized formats!

the only thing I've seen that I liked from Vocopro was a dual wireless wireless mic system!

I have never owned anything from vocopro but after I blew my elbow to shreds I needed to lighten my load. It is so cool to walk into a gig with 20,000 songs in your front shirt pocket!!! In my other pocket is my 80 gig Video Ipod with about 8,000 songs 1000 videos from youtube and numerous video games. Now if I can just incorporate the xbox 360 into the show somehow.....

The VocoPro juke I heard was actually made by another company, still don't know which, but have heard good things about it overall - about the only thing positive about them IMO!

Their wired mikes are pretty solid too. I have had two since 1997 without any issues.
