Who makes them?  I like sunfly most of the time but soundchoice does some really good ones too.  Was just wondering what the rest of you thought.

I think SC is the most consistant.......very seldom does a track sound kappy.........I mean crappy

If I had to pick one manu for all genres, it would be Sound Choice - most consistent for accuracy & sound quality.  Don't care for Sunfly, very midi sounding on many songs, however many steps above Music Maestro.  Second pick would be Pioneer - however very hard to find since no longer made.

For your more Euro covered tracks, you can't do much better than STTW (Sing To The World) or EK (Easy Karaoke)... and they cover many songs we on THIS side of the pond like.

Other than Sount Choice, I like Zoom, specially for the British Invasion music from the 60s and 70s.

I have heard some good zoom, and their lyrics/break display is great, but I have seen some Zoom tracks which are very bad MIDI.

Of the brands I've bought I like Sound Choice and Pop Hits Monthly the best.  I'm probably in the minority but I actually slightly prefer Pop Hits Monthly to Sound Choice because Sound Choice sometimes has a problem getting the words on the screen quick enough, while PHM will start the first few lines of the next screen while you're still singing the last few lines from the previous one.  YMMV.

I just odered a custom disc with "Zoom" and a couple "Sing to the world" tracks. I guess curiousty got the best of me. I prefer Sound Choice, but with all the talk about zoom I wanted to try them out.

Has anyone one used "Sing to the World" ?

I know Matt uses them quite a bit & loves them.  THe ones he brought up to my show sounded pretty good.

108 tracks so far. Only three of the discs I have from them were purchased (pressed) discs... the three Hits of Erasure and Depeche Mode. The rest have ALL been custom discs. One thing I like about them is six song minimun customs! I've gotten 9 customs from them so far... one from SBI, and the rest (22 volumes so far) were Sound Choice.

OF those 108 tracks, I can only say that like four or five of them were done by other companies better. I've been so happy with the company I no longer have a "streaming" account where I can preview them. I check out their 20 second sample, and get them that way.

Two of the songs I have were my special requests... they made them for me, and for folks that agreed with me!

Maybe it isn't *very bad* MIDI, but it is MIDI and doesn't sound good at all to me. Compared to Chartbuster or even DK, they seem pretty bad.

I have several Sing to the World songs on various custom discs that I've ordered and yeah, they're pretty great.  The sound is top notch and they put out songs that I never in a million years would have expected to find karaoke versions of.

I work with midi songs with bands that have their own arrangements & those arent as bad as i've heard - yes they are midi composed but i've heard worse.  Music Maestro was some of the worst i've heard.  The zoom clips are at least 'passable'.

Well, in their own defense, the Folsom Prison Blues and the Rhinestone Cowboy are "bought in" tracks, meaning they got the audio from either Easy Karaoke (EK) or Zoom or probably SBI, which in their $2 pound songs seem like they're midi, or most of them are.

Now don't get me wrong, I've been happy with their stuff... 20 or 21 of the songs I bought from them were "bought in"... in fact, that's how I discovered their company! They were using a "bought in" version of "Bring Me To Life" that was from EK, and it was the best one on the market... hands down. Still is! But so many people bought it, STTW thought they could make their own and save more money... and unfortunately, THEIR version is only "okay"...

They did the same thing with "Everybody Hurts" too!

I really wish more women thought about stuff like you do Johnny  !!
