Ok, I am a tech geek and lazy bum. I like things that make my life easier and more technology the better. I have one of the bedrooms converted in to an office. I spend most of my time in there with my 3 computers and 2 laptops. In my livingroom is my 62" DLP widescreen HD TV and I have DirecTV/Tivo unit I use to watch TV when I am not watching a DVD. DVD is easy, I just play it on my 20" iMac and watch it on small screen while doing some work (I tend to multi-task).
However, my satellite TV is not available in my office. Now, I could have easily installed a splitter on my coax and bought another satellite receiver. Of course, that's one way to do it. I was to lazy to install the coax so I bought a Slingbox. This is a coolest gadget yet.
What is does is, you plug it in to the out put of the satellite receiver output and connect it to a network, either wired or wireless (I already had Ethernet there for other devices so I just plugged it in) and you can watch and control the satellite box or any source of video from any computer. Even through the Internet!
Anyways, I thought it was really cool that now I can watch my DirecTV on my computer and my laptop from anywhere.
