HellO people......

I gotta get my laptop on it's way.

No suggestions

I know next to NOTHING about what processor I should get, how much RAM I need, and I'm totally in the not-know about wireless routers and all that. (like... this is gonna make me sound like a tard...) if I elect to get wireless broadband through my Verizon cell service, do I NEED a router?

Charmin is not computer smart, and has never had a new laptop.

I just want something that will work for recording, so I don't have to take my freakin' desktop into my bedroom each time I want to record.

No suggestions?

Going once.....

Going twice.....

Going to Dell.com......

I'll cross my fingers and hope I do okay;)

Same with Music Maestro, couldn't understand what people were hearing that they thought they were so good.

There are some Music Maestro I prefer to all others, but they are country
("Carrying Your Love With Me" and "Mercury Blues" among them). Probably they
suck for rock and pop -- I know "Don't You Want Me", "You Don't Send Me
Flowers", and "Baby Don't Go" are really bad.

It is really funny -- I never listened to country music before I started doing
karaoke about 2 years ago, and now I love the stuff....

Their country did seem to be a little better than the rest but even those were ok, I have some & haven't felt the need to have to replace them, but EVERYTHING in their pop/rock line i've never heard a good version yet.  Even the Elvis discs that people keep going on about, someone brought in some & they were going on about them being good, well it could be they were the only manu that HAD the songs so it was you better like them if you want to sing them.

OH, and........ I HAVE A NEW DILEMMA:

(but a GOOD one) :oh yeah:

I'm in the process of buying a new laptop. I had one ordered a couple months ago, then when they called saying there was gonna be a delay on something and it would be a longer wait before shipping... I backed out while I could.

I'm wanting one JUST for recording music. (with wireless broadband of course though)

What is this new Windows Vista? WHY can't MS just STAY with an OP that we like?  :banghead:

Me and WinXP have finally started getting along, and I don't want to get Win Vista. (atleast.... I don't think I do)

Anyhow, anybody have a laptop set up specifically for recording? Any suggestions as to what I should/shouldn't get? Cause I was gonna start with a basic, then change some things around. (a Dell, of course)

.

Don't know about ME, that was a stinker in itself as well, 2000 Pro & XP are very good & stable systems.  Haven't heard ONE good thing about Vista to date.

For recording the faster the processor the better as a rule, but it also depends on what kind of recording you are going to be doing.  Just get one built for gaming & you'll be fine - maybe upgrade the sound card to a more pro level for recording.

I have XP on my desktop and I like it just fine.

I'm a bit scared of new OP's.... especially when I hear things like:

I guess I DO have the option there to have XP still. Maybe I'll do that. I just don't want to make a choice and then down the road be saying "I should have...."

That's the kind of stuff I need to know. Thanks Lonnie.

BTW...... Is it hotter than blazes up there too?  It was wicked hot here yesterday and is supposed to be again today & tomorrow. (it was just 82 already in town... at 9:00 when I passed the bank)

I love it:)

It was around 92 yesterday, not supposed to be as hot today, low 80's here but it always seems to get a little hotter than they predict.

Same here.

They DID say today would be 80's... but now they're saying it will rival yesterday.

I should be out on a creek bank fishing today & tomorrow for my days off rather than sitting here on the dang computer;)

I wouldn't sweat the regret of NOT installing Vista... I don't trust ANY microsoft program until the first patches come out! LOL!

Just tell them you want XP instead... you can always upgrade to Vista at a later time when other programs are actually supporting it!

At least I know what XP is/does.

Thanks guys..... Guess I better get the dang thing ordered, gosh knows it'll take them a month to get it here anyhow:)
