Karaoke Forums

Does anyone know of any reasonably priced locations in the Southern California area (the closer to Orange County, the better) where one can record themselves with a karaoke track?   I have an opportunity to audition for a particular tribute band, and I need to give them a demo.

I've tried doing a preliminary search on the web, but I thought I'd come to the people who are definitely in the know.

There used to be karaoke booths at like fairs & carnivals, but I haven't seen those for quite a few years.  Might have better luck getting a good mic & some of the free recording software that's readily available for your computer - plus you'll usually yield better results than the booths used to give.

You could try a local recording studio.. they usually have pre-recorded tracks which are more professional and higher quality than karaoke tracks.  Might be more expensive to do, but if you are auditioning, why not go for the best quality demo you can get?

Don't listen to JD,  Ever since he moved into the loft apartment over his Aunts garage, and took the job feeding her horse he's been on this deluded kick that he's quite important.  He got a used Yorxx 8-track at a tagsale, and a plastic microphone, and ever since that unfortunate incident that left a hoofmark in his forhead he's been sending these photo's around to advertise his studio as well as posting phone numbers all over the internet.  Sad but true

Kidding aside,  that's what I used to love about the CAVS JB-199 and 99 series, they had a tape player on them, and the balance was quite good IMHO, you would go direct to tape, and also be able to EQ the machine.. Not sure if this is supposed to be done (regarding taping), legalities, etc ..NOR do I wish to go there, but I really liked the blend and balance on those machines and they were simple to use.  Of course I used to go into a studio room as well, and essentially it was one of these machines, the large jukebox with several microphones and a pushbutton selection of 1000's of songs... I don't know what an actual "Karaoke studio is", but it sounds interesting. Not sure what the price and sound quality would be

Actually doesnt crooner live in california? or is he NY area? I know he has a studio

True,  considering California is just a hop, skip, and jump across the pond.


Yes,  Crooner is Long Island.  That would be a blast going to his studio given his taste in music..

That'd be fun.  You're in his area   Great singer !   One of the few I cared to really listen to and critique (and I had little to add except fabulously done IMHO)
