hey everyone this is my first post on this forum and sorry if i'm posting in the wrong area but i'm looking for a recommendation on a good karaoke machine. I am a soldier in iraq right now but I am married and have 4 kids all my children love to sing and so does my wife. I'm looking for a present to buy them to help cheer them up and I think this will do the trick. I know nothing about karaoke machines so I don't know what to look for and what is an acceptable price I would like one that hooks up to my TV at home and with 2 wireless mics. I'm comfortable paying 500 or even up to 750 for the setup. any input on good ones or just what to watch for or be careful of would be very appreciated.

How big is the room they will be singing in?

Also what is their zip code? We could get them a cheapie to get them started right now then work on putting together a better system. You can get them at Walmart for 50- $100. I want  donate  a $50 dollar gift cert for the project.

I am with karyoker , let's assume this guy really is in Iraq and first off pray for his and others safe return.
I am thinking that at least one of us have an old kareoke machine of some type we could donate to this guys family.
I just donated my old 3 disc to a military auction to benefit families in the OKC area.
So come on someone that has one lets try to get the details and help out one of our heroes.
Blue.
I would also donate some cash towards a purchase or maybe we could donate some extra disc we may have laying around.

thanks guys for the donations but I really don't mind paying for a system I'm making about 1400 a month more over here than I make in the states I just don't know anything about them we've got a coffee shop here where people sing on one and it looks like a good one it's a pavis but it runs on 220V since  the states are only 110v and a different plug type I figured I would ask on a forum for what's good......

the room size is my living room so approximately 400sq/ft

I would go computer for the player and something in this range
link]
it is 125 w rms/channel and  would work for a room that size or rec room with some decent 250 watt speakers.

One home system I put in I set up a laptop and had a  mixer something like this[/ur]  from another project.  He had some powered speakers he had bought in some pawn shop. They didnt sound very good. I remembered I had a jbl eon 10 g2 out in the Van and hooked it up. His eyes litup (mine too) How much would a pair of those cost? If ur luky maybe $800 He ordered them mon For a home system it rocks....
