What are the crop circles I see when I look at the Google satellite maps around the midwest ?  THere are LOADS of those circles... Some are smaller, and some are huge.  How do those form ?

It's a *scare tactic* Steven, we use that here on the West Coast too. But ssshhhh.... we try not to discuss it too much out loud. (aliens do have super sensitive eyes and ears you know, and can even read here in the Lounge without appearing to be logged in)

>I may have to edit this later<

If you put your crops in circle formation, any alien ships passing through will think that your property is already claimed by another alien species, and they'll pass it by and look for different territory to land in. It works well, and you don't lose any corn crop that way;)  Aliens are very territorial, much like animal packs are, and they will respect another Alien ships' property, and not go cutting brodies in the field another ship has already laid claim to.

That's a brilliant strategy Charmin, and it makes perfect sense to me. What about the ranchers though? I keep hearing about ranchers - particularly in Colorado that regularly have their cattle mutilated. Apparently they still haven't figured out how to appease the aliens like the farmers have.

That's the da.mn CROOKED farmers. They're too lazy to take the time planting their crops in circles... so they head down the road to the nearest ranch and mutilate a few cows, thinking the smell of fresh blood will attract the aliens, and keep them away from their crops.

Crazy scheme though, cause little do they know... aliens are not attracted by blood. Even when they abduct people, they don't harm them. They're revolted by blood, and they're very humane (for all that their alien). But some of those dingie farmers, they're just interested in turning a profit for as little labor as possible.... And they don't care who/what they hurt if they think it will help themselves. So, they  do what they think will send the aliens to the ranchers' fields.

You ever seen a redneck bunch of ranchers take their SUV's and 4x4 trucks out to a local farmers field and cut brodies all night, and literally tear up a good field of crops with their tire ruts? Well.... THAT is why..... they're getting even with the farmers for mutilating their cows.

What goes around comes around.... Am I the ONLY one who knows about all this stuff that goes on?  :D

Yeah,  but how do they make those large perfect circles.  Look at maps of the midwest, some of those circles are HUGE.

They flag the empty field with markers ("starting points") There is a tool (called the err, ummm, "crop circle steering adaptor doo-hicky)....

>good one, Charm<

Anyways, they start the tractor at the first "flag marker" then put the doo-hicky on their steering wheel. What it does, there are different settings that adjust your steering wheel, and determine how wide of a turn it's going to make. It's set by degrees. So, the inner circle is made first. When completed, they go to the second marker, and reset the "doo-hicky" for the next degrees, which makes a larger circle around the first. And so on and so forth. This works for the plow, the planter, and the combines... so one doo-hicky is all you need buy. (unless of course, you have a large farm and are using more than one tractor at a time). If you choose to have the circle "filled in"... you use the same method, then just plow between the lines fo the circle. But, most farmers don't do this... it's a waste of useable land to fill them in, when simple circle outlines are enough to fool aliens and make them move on.

Pretty smart, really, whoever thought of it. (oh yeah, I recall, it was a guy by the name of Al E. Inn) Great invention, and most farmers have one  now. Except of course, those lazy ones who don't want to spend the money and take the time to walk the field to properly place the marker flags. (the cow slaughterers, as we've come to call them)

Or hell, some people do it like this:

http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Crop-Circle

(closest I could find to an "explanation") .... but my gosh, there are TONS of websites and forums all about this subject.... wierd.

LOL

That's interesting Charmin.  Is their purpose in doing this so these areas look good, and are identifiable from the air ?   What other practical purpose of a circle formation is there ? I haven't a clue.  Might be as simple as aesthetics.  Don't know.

These circles in Nebraska are due to a revolutionary development in farming called center-pivot irrigation. Center-pivot irrigation has made it possible to farm land that otherwise could not be farmed, but has also dramatically increased the pressure on aquifers.

Thanks Jerry  :worship:

I'm reading ALL that, and find it fascinating.  It actually never occurred to me that Yellowstone is a "canyon",  I never realized that.

You guys and your 'center pivot irrigation' systems are gullible. Don't you know that's just part of the government cover up? The government is in league with the aliens, and the farmers and doesn't want you to know the TRUE purpose of the circles so they put those sites out there to explain it away. I agree they look pretty believable but sometimes you just have to use your instincts about these things.

Thanks Charmin! I never really knew this before about the ranchers but it all makes perfect sense to me now.

Well yes, that's true.....except for the anal probes  :O . For some reason the aliens seem to have a thing about tying people down and probing them with alien doo hickies about the anal provinces. Sometimes they also poke people in the eyes with sharp objects which are later miraculously healed, but they just don't seem to have as much fun with the eyes as they do the anal.

It's hard to get into the head of the alien psych for motivations. Not sure what they get exactly out of circles in fields and anal probes but it seems to work for them. I guess it will take more thinking to come up with answers to those questions.

I'm reading that some of those crop circles are actually a type of graffiti, even vandalism.  I don't understand how something that seems to involve planning and time like a crop circle can be "vandalism".  Doesn't seem like something that is easy, and quick to accomplish

Since this has tapered down, anybody recall "The Freedom Ship" concept ?  Was that Urban legend, or is it STILL in the planning phases ?  I heard the concept was "Blown out've the water" before it even started.  Not sure

(Bottom of this link)
http://www.worsleyschool.net/science/fi ... hicle.html

I was just looking up cruise lines.  The site where we discussed "floating Karaoke" sparked my curiousity what is out there in the way of cruise ships now-adays.

I recall this sparked some controversy, and I don't recall whether or not it regarded such a massive size NOT being possible to construct on water given todays technology without being prone to damage, I think civil and architectural engineers stated it's not safe, and there was also political debate regarding elitism, and concerns about weird behaviour ?  Don't recall. Concerns regarding Human rights issues ?  anyone recall this ?  There was something pretty controversial about this guy "Norm Nixon", not sure if he was considered to be an individual possessing "pipe dreams" and little capital and governmental approval to build such a structure off the shore give zoning laws ???

This is just a compilation of strong twisters.  3:52 into the movie it shows about 15 seconds of flying car excerpts.

WOW!!! That Manitoba tornado was quite impressive, those guys were very lucky to get such great footage.. It is really surreal watching it, half of me was terrified and the other half of me was amazed and thought it was incredibly beautiful.

That chase team is lucky to be alive !   They get VERY close to these storms regularly & whenever possible   They've been in these storms.  If you watch their other movies they get up close and personal with these monstrosities.  It appears that they are making this into an extreme sport rather than a meteorological fascination.
