I just finally got to watch the finale. Wow what a show. I can't believe all the talent they had on there. Bette Midler, Gwen Stafani, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and more.

I won't say who won just in case someone taped it.

I can't believe I'm the only American Idol watcher. This year was the best ever. I fanally feel like I saw some great talent battling it out.

Wow that Phil stacey has an incredible voice. When he isn't under stress because of the competition he really shines. He would have gone farther I think if he had the look too.

Poor Melinda Doolittle if she didn't look like a troll she probably would have won.

I will never watch it again after that idiot won last year that's already in the "Where are they now" file.  There were several that was much better than Hicks that were voted off.  Seems odd the first year they raise the age limit, that the oldest contestant won - AND he wasn't that good!?!?!?
I believe it's all pre-determined from the start - no I can't prove it & it's my own opinion, but who would know how many votes anyone actually got, other than their own computers & we always know computers are always correct.  Remember the one vote where all the votes went to 1 person because the phone lines were screwed up?

A lot of people feel like you do Lon. I thought Chris Daughtery should have won last yr. He has well proven you don't have to win AI to be successful in the recording industry. My gosh look at Jennifer Hudson.
It is entertaining for me to watch no matter how fair it is and I think it gives people a chance that would otherwise have known even if they don't win.

My fiancee swore that if Sanjia won this yr he'd never watch again. I ask him if he voted and he said no.  LMAO Although I agree he should not have gone as far as he did. I can't complain if i don't vote.

we get your program here but its always a day or two later than you so of course we know who wins via the web. I too thought last year was a joke. I havent watched this year because it has been on saturdays here and I am gigging most weekends. I did watch the prelims though cause they are entertainment in themselves. We have our own NZ Idol comps but they are nowhere near the calibre of you guys

hi, i for 1 thought this year was the worst so far, as far as talent goes....just ho hum to me.

as far as the talent goes on the last night yes it was great but did u feel that Bette Midler sucked, i think her throat must have been screwed up because she has an awesome voice, but she hit not 1 high note that night and was flat a lot, she's too great a singer for something not to have been wrong....

l@ dolittle, i will say as bad as i hate to she did sing great but the judges thought she walked on water, on the last night she was on she sang a song by whitney houston, on 1 note her voice broke and she never came close to hitting it, very clear it was too high for her yet the judges bowed to her saying again how great she was, and when on the last night gladys Knight sang, NO NECK was right there beside her, and the soon to be winner was at the far end....much ado about nothing to me....JMO...
Lon, i agree about Hicks, no way should he have won, he just seems to be a copy of other singers, altho on the last night of this yrs show i really liked the way he sang his song.....but to have won? no way....

Hi all, yes Bette Midler did suck, but she's such a character that you kinda overlook that...at least for this show I did...now if I had paid to see her that would be a much different story!  LOL

Hicks also sucks, was scratching my head about that one.  I'm glad Jordin won, I think she deserved it.  So far my fave Idol has been Kelly Clarkson.

the only ai i watched was mainly on commercial breaks, i can't bring myself to watch the whole show because i can't stand the host or the judges....

it's really sad that so many people judge melinda on her looks and it angers me beyond belief to see someone being made fun of, especially for something they can do nothing about....i'm sure that's what cost her the votes....no wonder, everything is about looks...

that's why i turned off AI in the first place....because it sickened me to watch the judges mock the appearance of the contestants and now we see a great talent like melinda being called no neck, shrek and a troll?  wth does that have to do with her singing ability?  oh, i forgot...it IS all about looks isn't it?  so sad...we should be proud of the judges for setting such an example for all the young viewers.....

No offense meant by the troll comment. That is what my fiancee refers to her as because I have one that looks similiar to her. I'm not saying it is right to judge people by their looks, but unfortuantely the whole package is what sells.

I liked the fact you brought up not liking to watch the host and the judges. Is it just me or is Ryan Seacrest a bit high on himself and his position. His personality irritates me. To robotic or something. I can't put my finger on it.

k.... I didn't think Melinda was by any means ugly or troll-like..... Especially when she got her hair done, I thought she looked great, and she's a classy dresser... well at least... somebody dressed her classy!

I'm SO glad Jordin won.... she's been my fave since the beginning. Not just because of her amazing voice for 17, but because her personality is adorable!

so my two cents: Melinda was consistently the better singer, but Jordin had the personality, youth and pipes!

As for Taylor Hicks..... I agree completely..... he's already washed up. Ruben and Fantasia have kinda fallen off the radar too.... Ruben more-so.

Y'know who else I thought was great for her age? Diana Degarmo! She's was second to Fantasia.  She's another one with an adorable personality and a great voce for being so young. I could TOTALLY see her going down the same kind of path as Hillary Duff.... y'know... the pre-teen audience with the nikelodeon-type tv show...

anyways.... there's my two, or three, or four cents

You're absolutely right Milo, but even the best lookin didn't win inthe end.  I feel that Jordin was right up there with her talent, her looks and her personality.

In my opinion Melinda should have been right up there with Jordin, but who are the people that vote for the contestants?  It's mostly teens.  Do you think Sanjaya would have stood a chance (as far as how far he got)  if it were mostly adults voting?

nope, it's not just you....he seriously gets on my nerves...i hate to see all the sniping going on with him and simon....for one thing it takes away from the contestant, they're left waiting for them to finish and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the show....i'm not sure if it's just another stupid thing supposed to boost ratings or what.
