Ciao everyone!  I'm here in Italy and been DJing/KJing for a little while now.  Recently been asked to start on a more permanent basis (contract yeah)!!

I'm doing things the old fashioned way.  CDG's, player, lots of cases...etc...

Really interested in going digital.  Computer/external HD/etc.. capable of running
everything.

I would like some help on what you think is the way to go.  I've downloaded
alot of Demo's from various places, and they all seem ok but without the
full version it's hard to tell really what the capabilities are.  Currently Compuhost
is leading the way, and MTU is good.  But I just don't know which one I should
spend the money on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!  THANKS!![/b]

After using MTU's Hoster since 2000 I couldnt see myself using anything else. It Does Everything I could see anyone needing. But That is a personal decision as to what you want in a program.

I suggest trying all the ones that have demos to see if they are the right fit for you.
I know I have.
Lets see without pluging any of the programs out there by making comments of my opinion of each unless you ask me nicely and I won't do it on the forum but in a PM as I don't want to start another stir the last time I covered programs other than the ones I used.  The ones I am listing are out and out Hosting software and not just players.
I'll start with the PLugin based ones:
RoxBox (Winamp)
Sax & Dotty's Show Presenter (Winamp)
AutoKDJ (Winamp)
Digital Entertainer (Winamp)
PCDJ KJ (PCDJ)
the Stand Alones:
Swift Elite
MTU's Video Hoster and Video Hoster Lite
Compuhost
All have demo's except for PCDJ KJ.

The best thing to do is try all the above plus compuhost, auto kdj Pykaraoke is a free one but is very bare bones I have spent hundreds of dollars in karaoke and related softwareand now use roxbox The main reson I bought it I got tired of S&D so I picked one from the heartland of this country. The developer Frank is a full blown KJ  in the DFW area and very busy at that So he knows what a KJ needs and is gradually developing a good program. Hang out awhile on the kjamp forum and you will get a an idea of the personal tech support you get from Frank and others. Also hang out at the other forums ...But like I say you need to test drive them all and choose one for your needs!!!

another one to contemplate is "Clubdjpro"... I love the demo version of it as you get to play with it FULLY for 20 minutes and then it'll close down. I wouldn't use the unpaid for version in a show... but it's by far the best one I've seen out there. I don't care for the ones with "rotation " software. And I love the video queueing, fading in and out from each song/player.

For my normal shows, heck, I just used winamp with the plugin. Worked just fine for my regular mp3gs!

Keep the advice coming!!  I'm starting up the first actual "American style" karaoke
bar here this summer in the Naples, Italy area.  Actually in about 2 weeks!!  YIKES!!

I need to get my butt in gear!!  hah!!

My favorite port in the Med other than Trieste was Napoli I would give my left arm to come to one of your shows OMG!!!!  :hi5:

Mi puerto preferido en med con excepción de Trieste era Nápoles que daría mi brazo izquierdo para venir a una de tus demostraciones.

Now you regulars know where this old man gets his emotions from..And I am a Scot.. LMAO

Live LOVE CRY & Laugh.... Forget about your petty crap!!!!!!!

Whatever you do don't buy Sax and Dottys. I bought 4 copies of their software and was treated like a theif after upgrading.
They are the RUDEST most AROGANT pigs I have ever dealt with. Do a search for AutoKJ which is a free plugin for Winamp which Sax and Dottys stole from to build their software.
It works far better and less buggy than Sax and Dottys and you don't have to deal with the PIGS!
Cheers,
