Another section of the crowd.

Hey Jian, these are some great pictures! Very cool. I wish our country had a new "village chief"! How often are the elections there? Stratocasters seem to be the universal electric guitar too! LOL

That's really cool Jian. I love seeing pics and hearing stories of other cultures. I've never been out of the US. (not likely to either, with that whole "wont ride an airplane" syndrome I have) :D
I enjoyed seeing these.
(nice guitars ...... )

Great pics Jian! I too am interested in learning more about the culture of your homeland. Is there an election for the Chief or is it a family lineage sort of thing? How often do you get a new Chief? Are there any plans of "Jian for Chief" signs?

the village Chief post is a 4 year term. It get extended if he is good. Those g'tar and amps on the stage belong to a nephew who have a band with his kids as band members. For this event he just donated the back line equipment and the some very young kids (mostly below 18) took the stage.

You all are welcome over here for the Gawai at the end of this month... One full week of non stop drinking and singing (mostly karaoke... the band boy can't play all song and they need to take some rest)

Yours is the BIG CHIEF, the one we have that night is only the village chief. The village chief is a 4 year term job and is renewable for life if the Chief is agreeable to the village people. he is semi-elected (the village people elect and submit 3 names and the gov't of the day pick from amoung the 3 a chief.
