Assuming you mean "Ever saw those karaoke DISCS WITH over 1000 songs"?
You are probably referring to the S-CDG which I believe - could be mistaken - CAVS makes the only players for these. They are basically a bunch of mp3g files - not midi - on a DVD. Cool in concept, but 1 scratch on the disc, a good chunk of your library is wiped out!

cavs supply the software to enable you to, but again unless you have a cavs player they wont play

SuperCDG is a CAVS entry into a DVD type of environment...
NEO CD+G is a RSQ entry into the same DVD world...
Both are totally proprietary...
ugh!

My friend have a CD with over 1000 songs.. His player has a dialing system use to dial the number of the song... I don't know if it is CAVS because he just bought it to someone else.. It got some weird brand, somewhat fake brand(i.e. Nike ---- Mike).. Yep somewhat altered name.. But it can play a bunch of 1000+ songs CD...

You need a program called Encoder MCG from CAVS. CAVS has this program for sale on their website.

depends on the ripped bitrate.
For standard songs, you get from 14-17 (depending on song length, etc.)
For mp3+g format, they are basically from 1/5 to 1/10th the size of a standard cd+g or cd file.
It's fairly common to get 70-100 songs on a cdr.

So what's the deal here? Is the CAVs MCG format smaller or different the MP3+CDG format? Drunken inquiring minds want to know....

they're essentially the same. I accidentally received the cavs disc one monthly update I got from THM... looking at the file sizes on the windows explorer was virtually the same.

common is so relative to where you live.
For Jian, who lives in the Orient, it's DVDs, done to the original music.
For us, the standard STILL is cd+g discs... although more and more are leaning towarsd buying in compressed formats. With the legality issues we're facing, I'm really starting to understand that aspect more and more. I just like having the cdgs and ripping them myself... so I can prove I own the disc. When you download them from legal sites, you still have to keep a lot of paperwork to prove the ownership of them.

I was thinking that the disc came from China or taiwan or hongkong because it contains Chinese songs... It has a mix of chinese songs and english songs..
I'm going to do some serious research on this.. Making HomeBrew Disc seems to be fun.

the .dat files are the vids...
you can basically rename them to a .mpg or .mpeg and they'll play in windows media player!

I want to know about the ".mdn" files and how do they make them... if only I could, I would have hack the CD and change the ".mdn" files to my songs of choice...
BTW, its not Microsoft Access.

How do they get in 32000 songs in a DVD when the .VOX files (mpeg-2)are well over 700mb each?
The .MDN files look more like the database files of the disc.

Those are MIDI files with lyric (sometime ref to as .kara files). You can collect them from many sites; tons of them and mostly free.
