I sit corrected. I actually knew that, but typed before thinking. No offense. Please do not do unto me as your namesake did unto Merlin.......Though he WAS smiling...

The penultimate was just for being there WITH me, Enchantress. Gotta leave a little room.....

Gotta say I agree with the black clothes almost all the time. For bars and clubs I usually wear black jeans and a black t-shirt with a company logo on it, for more formal occassions I go to black slacks, a button up dress black shirt, and a black belt with a plain silver buckle.

I've always thought that dressing the part for work is important. I have a brown leather cowboy hat that somehow has become a signature item for me; I'm often not recognized without it.
Normal gigs: (usually white) button down, jeans, leather shoes and of course the hat. Sometimes I'll wear a fun tie (looney tunes, christmas theme, etc.)
Summer normal: often will wear short khakis in lieu of jeans or some Tommy Bahama like shirts
New Years: tux wear sometimes mixed with jeans, no hat (need a nicer one)
Halloween: my wife and I decide on a new costume and she makes it... she's so handy to have around! Of course it is all written off, I only wear them to work. Soon I'll have a pretty good collection going...
Basically I think you have to fit the occasion but try to set the bar a bit. You can set yourself apart (button down when most are wearing T-shirts or maybe vice-versa!) without being out of place. What does the crowd find attractive, pleasing to the eye, and professional?, well, put it on!

I go the Lonman route, dressing according to the venue. for me this can range from dressing country western, to slacks and an open collared haraiian shirt, to all black like most of you guys here.

I used to dress up for my gigs, but found I didn't need to. I think you should dress to the style of your crowd. My crowd is a relaxed atmosphere. Jeans and t-shirts mostly. I think fitting in makes you more approachable. I have mostly regulars that come to my bar - I actually don't think they'd care if I wore a feed bag and house slippers. LMAO

I also will wear sport jersey's quite often and I guess that pertains to the anticipated crowd. LOve to stir the sport rivalry pot.
College Hockey
I've lived in Minnesota my whole life but am a UND (NoDak) alum. This is the state of Hockey!
Pro Football
For some reason this state is littered with Green Bay fans so that makes for some ribbing, especially with Thurs nite football.
Minnesota Twins!!! Ok, except for a group of sales staff that are Chicago South-siders (that come once a year) there isn't much for rivalries, just love 'em!

Actually, I find running the show naked is a great way to get people interested in the show. I keep tipping over my mic stand though.
