Steven these kids can engage in their fantasies and dream about how federal laws are going to determine how their karaoke business is going to fail or succeed is perhaps a hot topic on a forum. It is one of the biggest stretches I have ever seen. When they actually think that RIAA is going to take on a legal broadcasting station they are totally out of touch.. As a KJ I was just trying to add to a limited income As an engineer I was a professional for many years and If they think they can apply any analogy or compare a fully regulated industry to a flea dunk hobby then beware. It is an insult I do not like being accused of being illegal in a rinky dink business When you drag my profession into the childish mess I will come unglued You are dealing with the real world now.. Better get your ducks in a row..

I suppose the last thing I'd want to hear when jamming is "Do you know Skynyrd can sue you for playing that song without asking them first?"

JD Most of my frustrations are not doing karaoke anymore, I havnt even been in a bar and sang for 2 months, my emotional outbursts in any fashion is the result of being a 60's vet and what's going on in congress now . The massive war protests opened alot of old wounds "I could F*** SCREAM" I gotta quit watching the news and get back to karaoke..
This is an attempt to explain some of the extreme posts of mine and the actual subject was not addressed in a normal fashion but I am so tired of this liberal fix the world F*** political BS. We need to get back to solving our own problems and not take everything to the Supreme court.. We have real issues to address and set some badly needed priorities.
At the present rate and in an exponential fashion in ten years half of the population will be in prison and the other half totally controlled by 1%. More and more and more and more F** laws.. Are they ever going to quit fixing the world?
When they totally eliminate the middle class in this country who used to solve the problems then you will have haves and have nots and the same problems they have in all the socialistic countries in this world.
Do you wonder why the extremist arian cults are increasing? Wake up...

Ollie,
As a friend, May I suggest you do yourself a favor and DO NOT turn on the news, or TV channels that get into the negative, nasty and "Dirty Laundry" stuff that so many viewers just love to "rubber-neck", and stare at in awe.. The News is VERY depressing, (@$%!) pulls in viewers, it's good for ratings... People love to watch blood, tragedy, and Gore (Al too lately) but it's not for me, I view it as masochistic, and something I can and should avoid if for no other reason than watching it, and allowing it to rub into my face isn't going to solve anything. It's just a source of impotent rage for you. Do something positive for yourself instead. It's like turning on a program knowing you hate it, but you watch it anyway. What's the point ? When nice things appear on the news it's a rarity. HGTV, A&E, History channel, and some of the other cable channels have some great stuff. Major networks primetime news isn't fun viewing. No reason to watch it. Look at a paper, it's easier to turn away. You are torturing yourself by watching stuff you aren't going to change. Times change, we don't have to approve, it happens despite how we feel

I quit watching TV news in the 80's. with the exception of CNN for major stories, which are few and far between. Most of those newscasters are too stupid to be informing anybody of anything.

I stop reading the paper years ago but out of habit I still buy them. I don't watch TV that often and when I do its not the news channel.

I did exactly as stated above, except CNN is only the closest approximation of news when it comes to the world outside of the US. Then I go to she shortwave or satellite......

I'll admit it, I'm not too manly to admit I have a sensitive side. I just LOVE the Human Relations shows, and similar channels and programming.
(Spice, Playboy, etc)

Hey guys,
Just checking back in... looks like we have digressed all the way to beastiality. Scary stuff... Grew up on a farm... sounds like a few of you were the ones we ran off with the shotgun late at night.
BACK ON TOPIC?
ASCAP / BMI - ALL of my venues pay them.... I help pay them at 2 of the bars... the artists are getting a cut of revenues. Sound CHoice and other manufacturers got paid when they sold their discs.
I don't know if Sound Choice realizes it, but every time we play one of thier songs we are giving them free advertising to sell more product. If we were mass media (which as a group we are) they would be paying us.
And to those who disagreed with my point that THEY ARE DOING NOTHING! let me correct myself... they are blowing smoke, making threats, (unfounded ones at that) and they are DOING NOTHING!
Several of us are looking at getting our attorney to send them cease and desist letters.
That is why I am trying to get a national alliance going, so that we can tie together resources.
Anyway... my opinions... we all have them... and they all smell the same... you farm boys would recognize that smell.

Digressing ? Heck no. We're both over 50, cut us some slack ! Plus Jerry is married, but as Camus stated "they at least can't imprison my mind", so he likes to travel back and fantasize about the good old days when he got some. Just the days of wanton lust without the emotional baggage !!!
Quote: Grew up on a farm... sounds like a few of you were the ones we ran off with the shotgun late at night.
That must've been Jerry. I was smooth, by 11 PM I usually had my date in the sack, sometimes I was on my second by 11 PM ! Poor Jerry though, Often he didn't even score !
BTW, Starz, Don't let Jerry know this, but he only thought those were "his sheep", you could tell how their demeoner changed when I walked by.
