Morgana,

Your very knowledge of mic use and of your own voice is why the Senn will be an addition for you. In my case, I seem to be experiencing some slight key drift recently. I believe this may be due to some hearing loss, and am looking for compensation techniques. So far, it only seems to happen in the high end of my range, and only if I have to hold the note a bit. Until I figure it out, I'm sticking to the Gemini UH-8264 or the SM-58.  I'm also sticking to the mid and low range  LOL

I would like to request that you list a few of your favs, so I have an idea of the type of voice you have.   As for me, depending on your age, think a mix of later Elvis, or the lower half of Montgomery Gentry, mixed with Dean Martin or Kenny Rogers, a half to a full octave lower depending on the song. Definitely NOT a screaming rocker.  Country, Pop, Oldies, and Folk....

darn it Joe I think I would like to sit on your lap!!
Just in from my trip to Christchurch and I now am the owner of a new seinnheiser freeport wireless...havent plugged it in yet becos I am feeling a little weary after 2 days on my feet at an expo. I also purchased a sennheiser evolution 840 because I know from what I have read that the evolution series is even better than the freeport so I thought what the heck the sm58s we are using at present are about 15 years old (we bought them second hand and they had been well used, dropped and dented before we got them)
As to the music I sing hmmmm I have a reasonably low register voice with little range, sing a bit of blues (would like to sing more but I havent got the improvisation skills needed really) a lot of torch stuff (julie london etc) light jazz, virtually anything from the 50s and 60s, some classic rock and a smattering of metal

update...been tinkering with the evolution mic tonite hmmm it picks up way too much bass in my voice and not in a good way but sounds ok with the bass wound back to 10 oclock and the mids a tick over 12 oclock...guess it will be trial and error till I get used to it...tomorrow I will purchase some 9v batteries so as I can play with my new baby :) meanwhile Joe I have subbed a carly simon song jessie using the evolution...its not a song I am used to singing (sang it once before with disasterous results) and there are some pitch probs in the bridge...guess I wanted to see if the clarity of the mic was such that it made the pitchiness more apparant than with the shure. The sing is a bit tentative in parts cos I am not really sure of the song. But its a good example of the bass in my voice being a bit muddy especially where I speak... so any suggestions how to eq to suit my voice would be much appreciated

Julie London? My lap is yours....I've got a feeling that you probably do an incredibly steamy "Fever" by Peggy Lee.  If you haven't tried it yet, please do...
