Besides FRIDAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY - What is your best day for karaoke ?
Singers --What day do you go out to sing during the WEEK?
KJ's - If you're working during the week WHAT DAY ? and which is busiest?
I am asking because I am working with another bar owner and I want to be able to give him some suggestions on the better of the days to host a Karaoke Show.
He is now leaning towards MONDAY nights ..But once FOOTBALL starts I know what that will mean !!!!

I picked Wednesday b/c thats what works best around here I dont know why it maybe the "hump day" thing.. Also that was MY favorite day when I used to go out regularly & sing.

I’m thinking (oh oh),
a good night for you might depend a lot on what’s going on in your own area.
Maybe ask of those here, what things they look for in their area to determine what would be the best night to start a new karaoke show.
Maybe one would want to consider what the other clubs (competitors) are doing/not doing, things like that.
Just a thought.

I can't give one specific night for the best. Right now our Sunday & Wednesday are our deadest nights. Monday & Tuesday are pretty good, but i'd have to say Thursday are our best weeknight at this time - it flip flops through the year where the busy nights will shift over to the dead nights.

I'd have to say I prefer to go out on Wednesdays.. The main reasons are that it is humpday... My friends don't have their kids that night because of custody issues so they can go too... and It just seems to break up the week... And just so you know around here you can sing 7 nights a week at any number of places but if you want a decent crowd anywhere weds is the best day... Now if I really want to practice some songs and not be bothered by other singers Tuesday is the day... Usual rotation around here on a Tues is about 5 singers no matter where you go....vs 15 on Weds.....
I hope this helps you....

My personal experiance tells me Wed are a good day and so is Thursdays.
But I know it changes from place to place. - This place I am talking to has a very YOUNG crowd so ANY night can be a good night.

I haven't been to wednesday night karaoke in so long, I've forgotten what it's like at all. It was just too hard (for me) to stay out so late, then have to face getting up at 6 the next day for kids off to school and work. (i'm a big whiny baby if i don't get enough sleep, takes me a whole day to recoup)
But, if I were to pick a day to PREFER weeknight karaoke, I think I'd always stick with wednesday. It breaks up the monotony of "nothing exciting going on" during the weekdays.

Very good idea!! Here it is Thursday. In the Winter Thursday is dart night ..in the summer we have volley ball. People always like to stick around afterwards.

I like Thursdays because whenever I do karaoke I usually end up staying up way too late and that way I only have one more day of work to get through since I can never seem to catch up on sleep anytime except the weekend.
Even the few times there have been early shows that start before 9 pm, I'll get home by ten usually, but then I can't relax enough to go to sleep until midnight. Needless to say the later shows are even worse.

Mondays for me! 4 years at the same location and usually very busy. It use to be the worst night of the week for the bar. Now it rivals Friday's

With advertising in a the local paper and some banners outside and inside a venue
what do you THINK is an average time frame to judge the success of a NEW karaoke show? - My opinion is it takes about 6 weeks steady to judge if a show is STARTING to take. Within 6 weeks you should be able to see a steady increase in singers and money rung at the register. This won't mean some days still might be DEAD while others are booming ..that's just business. But I believe that within 6 weeks local people should see the signs and advertisements, local patrons can tell their friends of the NEW karoke show, singers can tell other singers they meet at OTHER shows. etc etc.

I voted for Wednesday because it seems to be the busiest weeknight around here. I agree with Tom, though about Thursday being only one day from weekend, and you can wing it on Friday at work if you have to. My personal favorite as a singer, though, is Monday, because it is DEAD--you can sing a lot and still get home early. Football is a consideration, as you said...if the bar has a TV, you might as well hang it up for karaoke.
Six weeks will definitely tell you something, but take the seasons into consideration, too. Winters are more dead at our local hangout than summers, so if your trial period falls in a naturally dead time frame, the bar owner might say karaoke isn't working.
