Hello,

anybody knows Behringer ULTRAVOICE XM8500?.

What're your opinions?.

Thank you.

I know this is an older thread, but I'd like to speak on that mic.

That happens to be a really good mic... one of those little "gems" that defies the "you get what you paid for" rule of thumb.  I got tired of seeing mics abused, so after I read a zillion great reviews on Musician's Friend, tried one (two, actually), and never looked back.

I know a couple higher-end guys who use them.  They tend to not admit it, but I know they do, and I've bought a couple to save my better mics.  They sound great, feel good, low handling noise and have good feedback rejection.  $20 compared to $100 for my SM58, I leave the '58s in the case.

Agree with Tim, sounds like you just need to replace your mic cords.  Mics don't tend to give 'fits', they generally either work or they don't.  Spend the extra and get a couple lifetime warranty cords, once they start going, you exchange them for new ones - no cost.

Speaking of I just bought new mic cords for the Shures this past weekend & I didnt know this but Monster Cable cords have the lifetime warranty on them where you just take the old one into anywhere & they'll give you one in exchange no reciept needed. The very nice guy at Guitar Center told us that. Thought it was awesome that they do that.

Ive just recently bought a Sennheiser Evolution Series wireless & man am I in love !!! Expensive as all get out (to me) but well worth it !!  Its soo much clearer that what Im used to ( Shure sm58,which are dang good mics themselves !! ) The gain doesnt need to be up NEAR as high with it and still the difference it makes with the singers who sing too quietly or dont hold the mic close enough to their mouths is unreal ! No more probs hearing them now !! Which makes them and most of all us happier !  Although Im VERY protective of who I give it to especially right now b/c its like anything new & expensive ya just DONT wanna get some drunk thats gonna use it as a drum stick or something. Weve had great compliments on it so far.

Personally (of course also depending on S&H expenses) I'd easily purchase a few SM-48's used in great shape for these prices.  But this is JMO.

If one person is selling several used SM-48's at these prices, and you can get them for low S&H, my own feeling is this is a good buy !   Three for 100

I'm looking to spend about $100 for 2 mics...anybody got any reccomendations?
I hope this is enough, but I'm not sure, $$ is tight.

Thanks for the inputs and suggestions ahead of time...

Absolute best bet:  Believe it or not, Shure private labeled for Radio Shack. Their RS-230 is a Shure SM-58, The RS-130 is a Shire SM-48.  If you can find them, they should be available for around 1/3 the price of the Shure versions, or around 35-40 apiece for the RS-230 (Preferred choice).   If not, go for the Shure PG-48 Shure version at around 40.oo per.  or PG-58 @ 60.00.

Senns are great mics ONLY if all the singers are very good and have mic skills ( and most aren't).  The are very unforgiving and will make a mediocre singer sound horrible....

They really are the only decent lower cost mics around. STAY AWAY from the RSQs, all of them.  They are rugged as hell, which is a shame 'cause they sound like you're singing into a baseball mitt.......

The Rat Shacks were based on the PG series not the SM series.  But yes their upper models are produced by Shure.

Love lifetime warranty - just replaced $120 worth of cords (3) for free!
