I have been downloading new releases from CAVS for the past couple months, and have been pretty happy with it. But I went there today to check on new stuff, and -- they apparently have stopped offering the Panorama and CB stuff, which was the main reason to go there.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Seems like most of the internet retailers quit selling Panarama stuff as well - they were always questioned as to their legality as they seemed to reproduce songs that no other manufacturer could, not saying that's the reason. I know CB was in a lawsuit regarding alledgedly creating music without obtaining licenses to do so - maybe something finally came down on them where they had to pull them or CAVS had to pull them, i'd actually call cavs to find out, you are going to get mostly speculation here with none of being from cavs???

Their answer?
The karaoke download website is currently being re-constructed.
It will be running with full portfolios in 1 - 3 months.
The site will remain open with continuous updating of the songs and features.
We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion.

Thanks for the heads up. Earlier this week, I had just purchased about 10 songs from CAV and most were P or CB. (only one was CAV)
Glad I got them when I did.

But if they knew they were going to do that, why did they post a new song download manager on their website just last week (see copied text below from CAVS website). It's not adding up.....BWY, the The download manager link is now dead. Also, why not just load the old system run until the new one is ready? I don't think we are getting the whole story. Has anyone talked to CB or Panarama to see what they know? With all the rumors that are running around these days regarding the legality of downloads, I'd sure like to know what's really going on here.

You can still get them from www.tricerasoft.com/karaoke_songs/songs.html
as well as Zoom and Forever Hits. The only name brand they don't have is Chartbuster.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the whole karaoke industry from the manus on down is starting to shake apart?

I've had that feeling for a couple years now.

well, when the manus themselves mention that they've relegated us kjs to 2nd or even 3rd fiddle in favor of the home market, streaming karaoke, online sites that buy or lease rights...
And then with the whole threat that started in Phoenix...
Yeah, ask me AGAIN why I retired!
