Hi everyone,

I'm a new member and would appreciate your help.

I have been able to connect my computer to my television, so that the karaoke files on the laptop can be played on the TV monitor.

Now I want to buy a wireless mic to sing. However, I'm ignorant of how to set up. I've try to google but apparently nothing came up.

Can you tell me the steps I should do after I buy a wireless mic (I guess a UHF is a better one?)

My sincere thanks,

You need a basic mixer. Here is one that has effects, which you will want:

(Not endorsing that store, just the first Google link.)

At that point, the microphone gets hooked up to one channel, the laptop to cd/tape in, and the out goes to your amp/PA.

Thank you for your reply. If buy some system like these two, does it mean I don't need a mixer?

One thing I don't understand: do i need to connect these systems to my television? Or do they just stand alone?

sounds my my pervious long post :) which everyone is too busy to answer.  like MCKYJ mentioned, you need to plug your wireless mics into a mixer and your mixer to an amp.  The boxes are just receiver for the wireless mics... (correct me if i'm wrong since i'm a Newbie also)

No. You still need a mixer -- the wireless system is just the equivalent of a microphone with cable.

The computer (or video from a cdg player) gets hooked to the TV. The audio goes through the mixer.

Welcome aboard, and glad you found us.

I would recemoned getting wired mics for now, they are cheaper, and spend the money you save on an entry level PA system.

An aquaintance of mine got the following recently.....

For home use it works great, and if you got that and a couple wired mics, that is all you would need.  Also getting a systme like that gives you a chance to learn how to us PA equipment so if you want to "UPGRADE" at a futer date, you have knowledge on what you want and don't want in a PA system.
