i would like to copy my CDG,VCD,SVCDG & DVDG on an external Hard Drive and play them of the Hard Drive which would be connected to the Karaoke Player via USB. Please keep in mind that i WON'T be RIPPING just COPYING to HD.

1. Would i be able to do this?

If i chose to CONVERT them to DIVX would i be able to use the karaoke functions w/ this format? please advise...

1. What player will  you be using? And what formats does it reconize?

2. Yes you will be "ripping", and you will also probably be compressing the files too.  You will have to put them in a format the the player will reconize, and compress them so you can fit a lot of files on the external hard drive.

i'm in the process of selecting a player. Not sure which one. a few had these features

USB Port
Playable Disc: CD, CD+G, VCD, DVD, CD-R, CD±RW, DVD±R, Dual Layer DVD±RW
Compatible Format: Audio CD, HDCD, DVD-Video, VCD, CD+G, MP3, MP4, JPEG,AVI, WMA MPEG

Trying to do my research before i make that purchase. If anyone could help me determine what to look for i'd appreciate it. I've already purchased  POWER CG+G from power karaoke and have an EXT HD.

:handshake:

You will have to convert your CDs to one of the above formats to be able to play in the player.

It may just be esier to us a PC for the player, and connect your USB hard drive to the PC.  It will give you a lot more control, and and a lot more expandiability.

Seriously consider going to a PC instead of a standalone player.

Most laptops today have built in dual video cards (TV tuner cards are so you can watch a RF signal (TV) on your PC).  One part is for the screen on the laptop, and then there is usuay a S-video or composite out on the laptop to be able to use a TV for the lyrics.

If you do buy a laptop, make sure that it has the capability of supporting EXTENDED DESKTOP.  Some laptops will allow you to hook up to a TV, but will only show a mirror image of what is on the laptops display.   EXTENDED DESKTOP is the term used for havineg the abilit for 2 or more screens show different things.
