Jd youve probably seen some of the pics Ive posted of our annual family reunion and all nite karaoke party.. Another KJ here has a brother that does a whole barbequed hog  with all the trimmings sometimes.  

There is nothing like it The coyotes are drowned out for that night All the horses (and mule) are awake all night and begging hand outs from the kids..  It does turn into a yearly event which everybody looks forward to.

That is one outdoor gig that can go as loud as possible...... and how far is the next door neighbour? No rain to worry about too.

Steven, I find it amazing that you have never been to a desert.  WIth the allergies that you suffer with you would benefit greatly from being in the desert.  Many people every year move to the desert to hekp relieve themselves of their allergy symptoms.  Even people with severe asthma are ussually told by their doctors to pick a desert and go there....  I would recommed New Mexico.... That is my desert of choice.. You have the beautiful red rocks so you aren't just in a middle of a huge plains areas.

JD.. That looks like so much fun!!!!  It reminds me of a time we took a band with us on a camping trip to the desert in Eastern Washington.... Brought the generator and everything......


If I may ask.. What size generator did you use to power the equipment????

The motohome generator was 4KW, and worked just fine..

We often take a band out too.. They call themselves, "The Dune Squad"..

They are great..  :oh yeah:

Yamaha makes a little toy called "The Rhino".. and a few of our group just had to have one.. or more..

A week ago, we had a little get together, and the Dune Squad rocked the house..

Jd do they still use VW frames and engines? Those were a kick in the pants..

Yup you are right with that one..  One thing that always amazed was when you were on a frozen lake and a cracking sound could reverberate across and be just as loud on the other side of the lake..

Those small buggies are mfged by Yamaha, and are good for 60 mph or so..

(It's just a hobby)

The real money is in the long travel buggies.. Entry level long travel buggy can be $60,000.00 up..  (USD for our overseas friends)

Holy crap!!!!!  We used to rat patrol with dodge power wagons We went airborne one time and landed in a dry lake bed and busted the front axle... Those buggys must have one hell of a suspension system... One reason they used Vw's was the engine was in back for weight on the drivers I see that is still the case..

Yes, but most are Corvette engine, or Caddies.. Some imports too..

Mercedes AMG supercharged V-12 under construction.. I don't want to know how much it cost the guy..

Each of those Rhinos ^^^ is around $11,000 to $40,000, depending on mods..

Buggies, $60,000 to $300,000, more if required..  LOL

Diesel pusher, class A motorhome, $200,000 to 1.5 million or more.. (I rent)

Hey Jerry !  

     I didn't realize that the last date that I actually spent some time in KS reading was early morning 2-19.  I've made a few posts, but this is the first time I've seen the photo's of the Sand Buggy !   Amazing...  Here in CT, we had access to Fiberglass kits, or bodies that people would put VW engines in..  They were open, and we called them "Dune buggies", but my guess is they are about as close to the "real thing" as a Tonka Truck is to a Mac Truck.... These things I believe were able to hit 30 MPH on a good day (and downward incline)  LMAO ..  They looked "Cool", even Beach-like...  So for central CT they were real babe magnets !


Those real things are amazing,  they travel at what speed ?  and leave the ground HOW far ?   The fiberglass toys we had around here were just that... Road legal, but not much more..  (Although I think road legal during daylight hours, and subject to the same laws Mopeds are bound by ).. Something like that... Although since they were over 50CC that couldn't be...dunno..  Not sure they had headlights..

No,  you are correct,  I have HORRIBLE allergies.. and NM HAS been recommended. Out West to me so-far means the California side of the Hudson River... I actually roughed it up once, and was as far West as Niagra Falls...  I think I'd love leaving CT...  I'm not overly loyal to this state... Only thing impeding a move is family in the area, and a few somewhat large musical toys..  Oh yeah,  did I mention a slight fear of change yet ?  LOL

I'm going to hit a site that sells those Jerry.. Curious to read about them... See what's on the market.   Another interesting aspect would be to see if laws in these Southern New England states even people to have them on the road.
