To the contestants at THAT contest.... I think it stuck in their craw that it was held by Denny's, and a Denny's employee won. She is a great singer, but I think it hit people the wrong way, especially those who thought they were "dead ringers" for contest winner.

And then throw in local bank employees for judges cause you can't round up anyone else who's actually qualified to judge such a thing, and well... only in a small town I guess.

Betcha Paul does it again next year though, he was too up on the money the competing brought into the bar.

Contests generally only seem to be a problem to those who don't win who think they should!
