Zorba the Greek (originally titled Alexis Zorbas) is a 1964 film based on the novel Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis. The film was directed by Michael Cacoyannis and the title character was played by Anthony Quinn–who was not Greek but in fact Mexican American. The supporting cast included Alan Bates as a visiting Englishman. The theme, "Sirtaki" by Mikis Theodorakis, is famous.

LOL  Since I come from a rural background I know what it is to go out and kill and dress a chicken for sunday dinner.. I know what it is to butcher in the fall and store up for the winter and I have done it with wild meat.. It has nothing to do with religion but survival..

One of the mysteries in my lifetime is how in 2 or 3 generations traditions from thousands of generations have been lost and everybody depends on the gov or others for protection, food, moral guidance (which used to come from family), philosophies, how to think, what biases to have and not have,.and on and on...

I can still skin a deer with a pocket knife.. And provide for self...Quit trying to put everybody in a bubble..

Great point you have there!!!!  Most would not be able to survive if the gov fell apart and they couldnt buy food. Many would be ok, but many many more would starve to death. It's sad really.  :(

I can hunt and fish, and find other food sources....So I would be able to provide if I had to in that way. I just hope I don't have to do that any time soon.

Yeah I liken that to myself. I can tell the best of em a thing or two about mother nature !  In fact, I've been known to be in the great outdoors planting pansies, and the spoon I'm digging in front of my condo with hit's a worm, and out've respect for nature, in full blown panic I run into the house and don't go back out until winter. I've seen more than one nightcrawler in my day !!
I've slept in all corners of the barn when it comes to hunting  !   I'm into fishing too,  Sometimes it's tough to find a woman who'll put the breadcrumbs on my hook though, so I get out the guppy net, and tough it out like our ancestors did !

I'm the Long Island version of Ted Nugent !
