Ok,  the folks at Power Burner have decided that for whatever reason their software will not burn on my computer driver.  (HP a1020n with the LightScribe DVD/CD Writer)

It rips ok, and Karaoke Sound Tools did a wonderful job of altering the key changes.  However, it will not burn.

They have recommended that I purchase another burner and I need some direction.  Obviously I don't want to spend a fortune...since this is strickly for personal use.  Office Depot has a Sony CD Writer for $44.00.

Any other ideas....THANKS!!!

That was the first one Power Karaoke recommended as well.  However, after reading sone of the posts on here about them...I am hesistant because I am just not that computer savvy.

They also recommended (internal)  Pioneer or BenQ.

I may go by the Office Depot and ask them if they will let me try that Sony just to see if it works.  And if it doesn't, then I could return it.

Thanks for the direction...you folks are the greatest!!

plexitor is the one most recommended but even then you have to check the models. there is a website where you can check compatibility for burning cdg but I dunno what it is...perhaps someone else knows

If you get the SONY make sure it is CD+G compatiable first, both READ and WRITE.  Some drives can only read the CD+G subcode

If I was buying a Plextor (for CD+G use)on budget I would get the 755SA or the 760A
http://www.plextor.com/English/products ... index.html

(NOTE: The 750A can only READ CD+G, not write CD+G)

IMHO Plextor is the BEST!!!!!

Thanks for the input folks.

I am going to do some research before I leap.

With the price of that Sony being so cheap...I bet it only reads.

I have also seen some burners that were advertised with dual layering???

I had no clue what that meant.

(I knew I should have just sent the discs to twansenne!)   :worship:  :worship:

CD+G compatibility is not important as it was before. Of the new drives only Plextors (and not all of them) provide full CD+G compatibility. Power CD+G Burner software allows to burn with most of the drives that support DAO96 burning mode. While it is hard to tell if Sony drive you are referring to supports DAO96 properly there is a good chance it does. Drives that are known to cause problems are Matshita, HP, and LG.

Thanks!!  I have a bid in on Ebay for a Power Burner (that comes with the Power Burner software I already have.)  for  $28.00  (including S/H)  If I don't win that bid, I will take that DAO96 info with me when I go investigate the Sony.

Wish I was smarter at all this.  At my age, I am doing good to push the ON button!
LMAO

I have a Sony DRU720 and a Plextor 740U. Both burn Power Karaoke, but the plextor burns at 1X where as the Sony's slowest speed is at 8X. Needless to say I always use the Plextor

I just got the Maxell CD burner and it is working to burn, I haven't tried to play off of it yet.

Is that Sony internal or external?

I unfortunately have a Toshiba laptop with a Matshida burner and it DOES not work with ANY meathod....

The Maxell has been good so far.......

I also have the plex 740 (usb). it is the only Burner I have ever found that will read and write Mediaclog disks.

With USB enclosure any internal drive can be used as external. And usually it is cheaper than using dedicated external drive.

All my 3 'external' drives are in fact internal drives with usb connection. They cost about half the price of the real external.

YEA!!!!!!   :oh yeah:

I had someone recommend a Lite On (External) that I just picked up at Office Depot.
I got the OK from the manager to be able to return it if it did not work...which made me feel better.   (I had a $10 coupon, too.)

I just got home and burned my first karaoke master.  I have played  (and sung) all the songs and they all did beautifully on my VOCO PRO BRAVO.

I am sooo excited.  I just wanted to extend a HUGE THANK YOU (especially to twansenne who has been here from the first post)  to all of you for giving me the courage to go forward on this. This is something I REALLY REALLY wanted and I would have been to afraid to do it by myself.  As a 50+ old lady that is very computer challenged....I could not have done this alone.

Thanks so much...you folks are the BEST !!!!! :hi5:
