Sure made me think for a minute, though.  I should have given up thinking a long time ago.

Jerry, if the midis sound good played through your Yamaha, and it has a line out jack (mine does, and it was around the same price as yours), then connect that to the line in on your computer and just record it as it plays. You should then have a wav file that sounds as good since you bypassed the computer's midi generating sounds altogether.
If you have a program that can create cdg's you can make a cdg to go with it that is better than any of the commercial ones. There is only one cdg creating program that's worth the money, so if you're planning to buy one, get Karaoke Builder Studio. It's better than all the others combined.
  Hope this helps.

Y'now that was one thing I remember about being married.
It wasnt the Bells,
It was the threats.
Seems women havn't changed much in the last...

Saying that, in the YUK, they have taken over the...
drinking culture.
No longer are men the drunks.

Guys.

THIS is the TECHNICAL FORUM not the Lounge. We often ask Newbies to this site to do a SEARCH before asking question. Many of the posts in this thread should not appear here. You guys just make the SEARCH function of this forum less useful.

I've been downloading midi song on-line for free for some time.  I have a korg M1 that is awswome, unfortunately it's pre-general midi, so I use cake walk and tinker with the voices until I get a combination that I like, and it sounds great.  With all the free midi music on-line I'm actually thinking about up-grading my M1 to a new keyboard with general-midi then I can record the music to my computer with a $40 audio capture card then using a program like power karaoke make my own CDGs.

Bb

I was very interested in the Karaoke Builder software several month back.  Not much info was forthcoming about it from this forum.  AND when I e-mailed the company, twice, with several questions I had, I never heard back.

I don't even remember, now, what my questions were.  What is it that you like so much about the product and how have you fared with the tech support for it?

Hi eric

Several years ago when I first started getting into making my own karoake songs, I tried every program there was. They ranged from horrible to merely inadequate. Karaoke Builder Studio (not to be confused with Karaoke Builder, which is a different program) is the only one that allows total control over what you put on the screen along with a GUI that is logically laid out. Your imagination is the limiting factor. Read the help file 1st and you'll be ready to get started. There may be other programs that make it a little easier to produce mundane, inaccurately-timed lyrics, but KBS is head-and-shoulders above anything else out there. I haven't spoken to the guy who wrote the program for years, and I have never had a problem that I needed tech support for, but he always answered me back promptly when I e-mailed him. I haven't upgraded the program for years either. The version I have (3.0.120) does everything I need it to do. He was really working on the avi side of the program (KBS can create avi's, though I've never needed that), so newer versions may be better at that. BTW, when you buy it, you get free upgrades for life, unlike many other rip-off companies I won't mention here (unless someone asks lol).
If you think of any of those questions you had, feel free to post again.
And for the record, I am not affiliated with the company in any way. I just love the product.
