Here's something else I'm going to moan about so here goes.

People that have snakes and Iguanas as pets REALLY should be required to first take a test showing that their IQ is at least almost as high as the lizards.  You wouldn't believe how many dufus's get Iquanas, lose a chunk of their lip without every figuring out WHY the Iquana went for their lip...  It REALLY doesn't ocurr to some of these fools that a wet lip to a lizard might look like a slug..

If I was already on the road there might be an incident/accident. I was taking back for a while. Knowing that the snake is not poisonous I just give it a nice slap and it slide away thru the open window.

Jian,  What breed of snake was it a Colubrid like the Sulawesi Mangrove ?  THat's mildly poisoness.  Unless you cornered the snake I can't imagine WHAT species would crawl up to aggressively pursue you.. UNLESS it was an egg-laying female and WHY it'd pick your car I dunno...  Most snakes that are aggressive in your area I think are "hot" (venomous), or pythonids.  Scary thing about the retics is they have a VERY active feeding response.  No person stands a chance unarmed against a python of 11 feet or greater assuming the snake smells bird, or any prey on the person.  The US deaths from pet burmese pythons have been just that.. Often a person has handled the snakes prey first, or was cooking and the snake smells food and does a prey strike.  Those things coil with up to 18 psi pressure.

They also have those Kimodo Dragons

Yep,  there was another fatality a few years back where a man was killed by two of his Varanid Lizards.  The Monitors have a really high metabolic rate and are also poisoness,  another thing many don't know, but they are mildly poisoness.

Jian,  what is pathenogenesis ?   I don't fully understand that chromosome stuff..

OK,  some of you might not be interested in this, but this is one amazing animal

ANYTHING capable of eating a buffulo isn't my idea of the best housepet.

The Komodo dragon's bite in itself is not poisonous but the saliva contain very bad pathogen; It is the bacteria in the saliva that can cause fatality.

Jian,  Is that still current belief ?  or has this changed.  I thought all of the Varanidae had some degree of toxin.  I know old belief was infection from bacteria, but I thought that turned out to be toxin. Dunno...

This is amazing tho.

I thought the current existing ancestors of the Dinosaurs were birds (we discussed this awhile ago elsewhere.. A few other species came up)

But according to this... THESE ARE Dinosaurs.

The Komodo Dragon is one of natures giants, one of the leftovers from the era of the dinosaurs.

They seem to be approaching extinction too.

By joining a liveaboard cruise to Komodo, you not only get great diving, but have the chance to see a living fossil, one of the world's most famous and unique animals...

It doesn't mention how many tourists  go diving in Komodo and become lunch for these monsters.  I suppose that wouldn't be a great way for the Island to bring in revenue.

National Geographic documentary I saw not too long ago, was my source.

It's my understanding that birds are the descendents of dinosaurs. I don't believe reptiles are directly, and I would think monitors are reptiles.
