Good point, when I go shopping I often make ciggy runs for those around that do smoke, THOSE are costly now-adays. The 1st of the year prices went up considerably. Over 9 bucks for two packs around here. When I stopped smoking, a carton of Lucky Strike was about 13 bucks. (I think, may be wrong it's been awhile) Another interesting thing I noticed when buying wine for a few of the ladies around this place... J&B Scotch (what I used to drink) is up over 30 bucks a litre. It was 7 bucks a quart when I drank it in New York around 1978... That is a considerable increase. It appears bourbon, Gin, and other hard liquors haven't increased at the rate some of the Scotches have.... (just saw these prices recently, I seldom go into package stores anymore)

I wonder if Scotch has become more popular in the last few years. That could explain a spike in the price.

We are going through our karaoke library to check for mistakes and found one that was very funny.
Rocky Mountain Horror Picture Show. Sorry, it was very funny to us. I just sang part of the fanfare in a baritone voice also in 3/4 time. It was hilarious.
Dad Gummit Janet, I lerv you.

Could it be the ratio of the "Euro" to the US dollar ? Dunno.

That is a funny song.. I totally get it.... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ...
I have saved personally -70 at this point...Together rich and I have saved -40... We will be breaking even next week...
As for my cravings.. I stocked up on gum, peppermint candies, butterscotch candies and the cinnamin disk... I also got celery, carrotts and fruits.. Come to think of it I think I'll have an orange.....
What I have been doing when a craving hits is just to remind myself that "I do not have any cigarettes because I don't smoke" Talke a few deep breaths and find something else to do. It seems the times when I want one the most if after doing something strenuous or when I am just sitting and relaxing.... But that too is starting to disipate already...
I did the same as Chuck and I wrote my letter saying goodbye and Rich and I together cleaned all the smoking paraphanlia out of the house and cars and put them in the trash and then at the curb.. That whole exercise left me feeling impowered over the darn little buggers.. I felt like I had the power over me and not them.....

Speaking of cravings... Anybody know what microwave setting to use for Tater Tot's ? Is it the same setting you're supposed to use before putting the Boiling Bag pizza into the water or a different one ?

I really couldn't tell you.
I'm getting fat already and I don't officially quit until tomorrow. The Battery in my scales has gone dead. Good timing too because I don't need to be watching my weight right now.
After I write that letter tonight I may reread it tomorrow and then mail it to myself as a reminder. ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif)

I've noticed in the last few days that I smoke less when I'm watching TV than I do when I'm at the computer. I guess you know where I'll be for most of the next few days.
This stuff that I'm taking to help me quit smoking actually makes each cigarette less effective than the last. Less nicotine is absorbed each time so I started having withdrawels on Monday and tomorrow they will get worse since I'm throwing out my last two packs tonight.

Good point Steve. It is costing us a fortune. My first month supply came up to $92 after my insurance pitched in about $12. That is about $50 a month less than smoking for me.
I have to keep that receipt handy. With my upbringing and my ancestry, I will only need the receipt to remind me not to smoke.

Yeah Steve for me it was only 114.00... So it wasn't that bad.. It was for a month supply too, so if you break it down it really is less that the cigs that are over 40 bucks a carton now.... Plus this expense will end in about a month or so.. The program in itself is only 12 weeks long.... The short term cost by no means out weighes the savings and benefits that we will recceive by not smoking....
I hope to have enough breath to sing those fast songs that I would love to try...Like maybe Conga.. ALways wanted to try that but didn't dare cause I knoew I would never be able to get enough air to support the song....

I wonder how much it costs. From pictures I've seen, New Zealand looks like one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

it is Chuck. In some respects its a bit primitive. For instance there isnt a good transport infrastructure. Consequently our roads in the main centres are congested at peak times. Does this mean we lack people with foresight? Probably ![lol lol](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) . But for wide open spaces and eye candy scenery its the place to be.

I can respect the traffic there being a little behind. Here we have no excuse. We have trends that will tell us what to expect in population growth and they are just ignored.

we are a country the size of Britain but we have a population of 4 million. 1 million are spread around the south island. 2/3 approx of the other 3 mill are in or close to Auckland. That causes major transport headaches

1. I am too stubborn to die first. Chuck doesn't need to worry about that.
2. All the stuff he bought to munch on is take-it-or-leave-it stuff for me. Except the gingersnaps, but I have polished off about half of them already so the temptation is almost gone.
3. I fully expect everyone who is quitting cigs to gain weight then we can all diet together. Please?
It is SO fun to see so many friends so focused on this. Chuck is doing swimmingly well so far. I think HE thinks he can do it this time.
Y'all remember, we are here for you. And it IS worth it. Definitely. No questions asked.

I have clothes that will fit if I gain up to 40 more punds, maybe more. I'm not worried 'bout my blood pressure right now since I had to go back on my meds for that anyway.
