Whenever I'm stuck in traffic I generally sing. Heck, I even sing when I'm speeding through the highway. But just wondering if there were any devices for car karaoke. Perhaps hooking up an ipod to the dash would be the closest thing?
Would like a way to pipe the voice through the car stereo system.

Thanks!
Raina

MagicSing is a portable karaoke mic that plays midi karaoke.  You can plug it into the cigarette lighter of your car.

From one of the web retailer's ads:

"You can even do Karaoke in your car with the optional cigarette car power adapter to power the Magic Microphone. Simply tune the unit to your FM radio in the car and start singing, if you have an in car LCD screen with an AV input plug it in for on screen-lyrics great for long car trips."[/quote]

There is, honest-to-gosh, a karaoke mic for the iPod called...you guessed it...iKaraoke. They retail for about $50. I do not remember the website but you can Google it. CompUSA sells them, I know.

I think I am going to get one just for the novelty value. Everyone at work already thinks I am crazy, might was well give them something new to talk about.

There was someone on this forum a few months back who had an intregrated karaoke system in the rear of his SUV. He had mounted an LCD screen to the rear hatch and seamlessly connected all of the audio/video wiring through the car. He would just flip the hatch, plug the mics into the system, and be ready to go for karaoke out of the rear of his SUV.

Whoever this was, chime in if you read this thread.

Like others said, however, karaoke that can be used WHILE you are driving seems like an AWFUL idea. If this is what you want to accomplish, or you already have such capabilities, let me know where you live and what you drive so I can stay the hell away from you!!

I was toying with putting a portable DVD player on my dash for my long Friday commutes.  The idea was to hook up the audio through either a cassette adapter or FM transmitter into my car stereo.  I'd convert mp3+gs onto DVDs.  I always sing along in the car, and would have the lyrics there just in case I needed a cue for a line or two, not to stare at while driving, of course.

Originally, I thought it would be neat to somehow project the lyrics onto the windshield in front of the driver, as is done on those clear teleprompters you see used for political speeches.

In the end, though, I didn't bother with it, though I do sometimes sing along with my own recordings in the car.

A few months ago, I saw a blurb on CNN about a cab driver in Singapore who had rigged his cab for karaoke, though.  Seems easy enough to do.
