Good going, Sharon! Have you ever made it six days before? Chuck's resolve is firm and he is diligently logging every cigarette as he was told. He seems to be "watching" himself...I think maybe in preparation for any potential personality changes.
I think giving up cigarette breaks is the hardest part about being a recovering smoker. You feel like an idiot when you take a cig break without smoking, but working through is a beetch.
I'm thinking 'bout y'all!.

Well, it really only said to log the smokes on that one day. I have been doing it anyway.

I get to stop smoking on Monday but I've been having some really cool dreams. Last night I stole a motorcycle at the Ren Faire and jumped a snow bank with it. My mom was on the back nagging the whole time though.

I think from reading, we are all strong willed to make this work. And I know we ALL can do it. It does get easier. Maybe a tad more eating, or something to keep those hands occupied, but it relly is a hand to mouth habit I think.
I can't believe how many times I lit one and layed it in an ashtray and really didn't even smoke it. Then when I realized I had let it burn to nothing, lit another one only to do the same thing. What a tremendous waste of money. Think of all the things we could all do with the money we wasted and now will save!
So proud of all of you and myself! If we all past this info onto a few of our friends, and they would actually try it, we wouldn't have to stay home and away from the dirty habit! We could actually have fun again. No crankiness, moodiness, or bad temperament. It is the fact that we still have to be subjected to it that makes it so hard to QUIT! But I know from others who quit, I don't want to be one of the those who act like it is the plague to be smoking. When they are ready they will do it too.
Good Luck To ALL!!!

So.... were you in garb, or in your street clothes?

Good question, now that I think about it I was in garb with my huge Claymore on my back.

Hey, if you are talking about at work then you can do what I used to do as introduced to me by a group at Fed Ex when I worked there in Colorado Springs...it's called TAWB. Or, Take A Walk Break. That's right girly rather than a smoke break or freaking out about anything get up and move, stretch the legs, breathe in the air. You mentioned how you were feeling winded when you walked before, perhaps this is the time to kill two birds with one stone. sorry for the dated expression. LMAO
Anyway at Fex Ex everyday once in the mid morn, and once in the afternoon we would get up and walk around outside for about 10 to 15 minutes. It was nice. Of course Colorado Springs is beautiful under the watchful eye of Pikes Peak but it still works other places fairly well too.

I've got another idea for you Sharon. I don't know, maybe it's silly but if and when you get a profound longing to give up rather than just going for it you instead first create a poll on KS and see if everyone agrees you've got it so bad you might as well give in. You can make your decision then based on the poll, and if everyone agrees you can throw in the towel.

Oooh I like that. Since I don't smoke, my friends and I skip our morning break and take a 30-minute Eat-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-And-Gripe-About-Work Break. I can beetch and walk at the same time!
Maybe you just helped me lose some of the pounds I put one when I quit smoking...five years ago....

Yep, it's kind of like that. Definitely you can gripe about work, or come up with innovative ideas and solutions. Amazing how you can solve all the problems of the world on those short walk breaks.
Oh, the key to TAWBS is you have an appointed weekly TAWB leader. They know when it is time for the break and make sure no one misses it. They go around and round everyone up. I hate to say it but the company will probably like it also because it increases energy level, relieves stress, and improves productivity in the work place.

I agree with you!! We are all champions in the fight.
GiGi.. I quit once for about 9 months and then another time for a few weeks... But the first time it was not by my choice and the second time.. shall we say I ended up going to the Holiday Inn for a few weeks.
Bill, I should have done a poll.. Polls are where it is at these days....Can't do nothing without a poll... I wish I could go outside for a walk during the day. Unfortunately there are a bunch of undesireable street people outside of where I work and my boss doesn't like me to be outside cause it is not safe. He won't even let me stay after dark if he is not here..I did decide however that I would just get up from my desk every couple of hours and stretch.....
Thanks for all the support.. I really hope to have this thing kicked for life this time....

I can understand that! Where I work they have a lot of undesireables outside also. So if I do go out now, I stay in the courtyard. Many sheriffs around out there and in the building, so it is pretty safe that way. But I don't like walking through town. I usually try to get out maybe once during the day and will meet my girlfriend outside in courtyard. (Munching on the celery, but without the dip.) Otherwise I also will just get up from my desk and take a walk in the building. Always someone you know to talk with a few minutes. It sure beats just sitting there and thinking about those cigarettes.
It really seems though that I need to be munching on something though. I hope that craving soon goes.
