Well, we would like to hear a sample sample.  Could you point us to something made on a midi triggered sampler that you think is good so we can hear what we're missing?

Eben, you appear to have a closed mind.
You are outspoken which is good for the forum.
Unfortunatly you pass misleading information.
Exweedfarmer probably had a similar knowledge
about midi that you did.
Although a little condeming, he asked questions,
and with pointers did his research.
Since you know it all you have no need to research.
It would cost you nothing to admit you are not the oracle.
With karake you may have a vast impressive knowledge.
I dont question that. I question your incorrect statements.
Not only that, I am offended that you would misslead me.

Close minded? Don't think so I thought I was being polite and offering MY opinion on the subject. I never told you that you were wrong on anything, like you did. I never criticized anyone on their opinion until someone like you called me a moron for not knowing. I just stated facts based on my knowledge base of years of experiece doing karaoke. You are the one started it and started call names. If it's anyone who's the close minded, I think it's you.

Back in the olden days when we had all of 64 mb ram some chap wrote an assembly lang and played John Dener's country roads.. It had something like 6 voices or whatever  we called them in those days It was impressive In fact I used a rom pack which plugged ibto a slot  One has masm 4.0 or whatever..

It took hours to debug the proggie no download it was 2 finger type in thouasnds of lines..
I have worked with real analogue computers in the navy and as digital was capable of handling more bites at at time it was becoming more accurate..

So what does this have to do with midi?  As digital becomes more byte capable and faster synthesized music and midi will evolve into giant proportions and become a science within itself and require another major ....

OK, yes MIDI can, has, and will work for ORIGINAL compositions, but for recreating current compositions....NO NO NO.....

Again there is no way, like it has been said, MIDI can not recreat the nuances that come from a human musician.

I am excited to learn about midi triggered sampling.  I thought that midi was dead as a dodo and that sampling had killed it fifteen years ago.  I do have to disagree about the future of MIDI, a control program yes but probably not MIDI as it stands now.  The biggest stumbling block, unless this has changed since the last time I looked too, is that a MIDI word (byte) is ten bits instead of everyone elses eight.  This will present more of a translation problem as more control commands are issued faster.  That would be my guess anyway.  But isn't this whole thread getting more tekkie than a karaoke board should?

We know that midi files cannot have vocals.  For that reason alone, I think CDGs are way better than midi.

OK now some of you are a little bit more flexible with midi.

The way karaoke is going with P2P downloads and loaded hard drives,
combined with the wages a musician requires is inferring some rather
financial consequences.

Does the manu's accountant say I don’t care what it costs
I want real musicians... Would his boss not fire him fast?
Or does the manu's accountant say don’t let anyone know
we are only using one musician. They would not buy our tracks.

Would the manu not rather pay one musician working from home
Who simply emails the midi track along with the list of samples used.
Bank transfer, enormous saving, stay in business.

It’s just no use saying no-one can play like this or like that guy.
They have been doing it for a long time.
They don’t even have to get it right the first time...
They can edit the piece till it’s even better than the original.

You don’t have a clue which of your favourite CDG's were made
using a midi track with vocals put on top.

Guys... midi has been taking over our music industry for years.
Don’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing although there are some implications.
Also this information has always been available. Never has it been a secret.

If you haven’t read the following link posted earlier, please do…
http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/feature.asp?ID=14

Please ask yourself this.
Imagine you worked in industry with a product.
You tested it, you compared it to other products and really got to know it well.
Then one day in a forum you ask how everyone feels about it,
and replies you get back are crap, crap and crap.
