One of the marinas that I play at is also a Yamaha Marine dealership. In a conversation with the owners, the subject of Yamaha electronics came up. They have offered that if I come up with specific model numbers for products, they will check to see what the employee cost would be on these items. They also mentioned that numerous items are also listed on the 'to be discontinued' line as new makes and models come out of their products, meaning that the savings could be even greater. Example: Best Buy sells one of their hi-end home receivers/amps for around $800, the employee cost on this item ended up being $123.
My question is, does anyone here use Yamaha and if so what would you recommend.
I am looking into both speakers and amps to upgrade my current system.

This system http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=630193 was recommended to me by Lonman after I had visited a Karaoke store and listened to Peavey. If you check my history ther'e a LOT of good comments on there about the Yamaha system performance & sound. Some (the ones w/Peavey systems claimed parity w/Yamaha), others that had listened to both said Yamaha was 100X better than Peavey. I have nothin but good things to say about my Yamaha mixer and speakers, I have many people that comment on the quality sound. A guy sitting on the other side of the bar said "It sounds like you got a live band over there"...you can't get much better than that, considering Karaoke is the next step down from a live band!

Go with the Yamaha sound, you'll notice the difference not only acoustically but perceptually...not just you, but the customers and singers will notice as well. It might behoove you to just replace everything without saying anything and see how/who notices the difference. The positive comments will solidify your belief that you did the right thing.

Don't own any, but have worked with them often & would recommend their stuff.  The Club series speakers are great with proper power & crossed over (if you use their sub too - their sub does not have a built in crossover).  Their amps of lately are very sturdy & pack quite a punch.  They've always made some pretty good to very high end processing.

Can't speak for their amps but heard many good thinks about their powered mixer amps

I have the S115V Club speakers and the P5000S Yamaha amp and I can tell you they sound simply awesome. Even though I am a noob to karaoke, I have been around sound systems 35+ years. I'm quite satisfied with my choice to buy them.

I will only use Yamaha speakers.

When I started the Yamaha amps were really good because they boosted more individual frequencies that other amps.   They work really well with the speakers.

I use the S115 club series Yamaha speakers also. I personally think the sound quality is better than the other brands I've heard other KJ's and bands use around here. You may also I had a thread a few months back talking about an outside benefit I played at, and how my speakers amazed me.

I don't have any first hand knowledge about Yamaha's other equipment, but you definately wouldn't be sorry about getting the speakers.

Never use Yamaha amp and speakers, but they have good mixer and we use MG16.

My setup includes Yamaha S115Vs for my main cabs, a Yamaha BR-15 for my monitor speaker, a Yamaha 5000P amp for the main cabs, and an MG16/6FX mixing board.

All components have been going strong for over 2 years.

The S115Vs sound great, are built for sustained, high-volume outputs, and, in my opinion, have the best bass response of ANY speaker under $500 out there (and they run $326 at musician's friend.).

Also, the vocal and instrument FX on the mixing board are better than any built-in FX I have ever heard and almost as good the $200-300 component FX processors out there.

I thoroughly research everything before I buy them, and you just can't go wrong with MOST yamaha components. The only exception I have found is that their line of subs are usually a good value for their lower price, but tend to be average when it comes to overall specs and sound.

The 5000 is a perfect match for the 115's!
Also if you get the matching subs, just get the Yamaha 7000, good match for those subs PLUS those amps come with a built in low pass & low cut filter so you wouldn't need an external crossover to match your system.

Thanks again folks for all the feedback. I've sent in my request for the price on the 115's and the 5000amp. I'm also going to check out the price on the 16/6 mixing board as well. If I make this purchase it will give me two complete club setups, plus a smaller setup for home to practice with. I'm hoping that Yamaha will give me an extra bump since my friends own the only Yamaha certified shop on the water in this area and I can use their logo and merch to advertise this at my current club. So we'll see.
