Hi everyone. Sorry I took so long coming back. I appreciate the condolences by all. I wasn't real close to my father-in-law in the last 10 years or so. He was a heavy drinker and pretty much shooed everyone away alot. This was after he became unable to work after an on-the-job serious spinal back injury.
But, I still respected him for the rock that he was to his family. He was like the "John Wayne" of working men. He never let his family down. I think he gave up when he was no longer able to tackle the tough jobs any longer.
I think he respected me too for taking care of his daughter and never asking for help at all. Not so with the other guys. Well....they all ended up in divorce except for my wife and I.
I noticed he looked sick for a few years, but we didn't learn of the cancer until recently. Then, it all happened so fast, and he was gone in a matter of months.
There was a huge attendance at the wake and services, then again at the military graveside rites.
I hope he's resting now.
Thanks again for your sympathy...I'm sure my wife would appreciate it also.
