Thanks you Vicki, I'm going to brush my teef, and head over there within 10 minutes. But speaking of Canadian bands. Listen to THESE kids do covers.. Damn, THIS was gorgeous ! That violin player had an amazing ability to cover Gordon LIghtfoot type music, and is quite a musician !! But together these kids were all talented. Listen to these vocalists !!

This is from Canadian Idol. That violinist really can nail Lightfoots vocal timbre if he wishes to !!

Well, considering I commented three different times in your sub area in SS as well, you can also take that into consideration regarding my fragmented character ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif)

Just for kicks, a few months back out've curiosity I was reading the history if this "sister Ann" aka "The Singing Nun" to find out what ever came of her since her 60's hit. Turned out her life really went downhill. She is quite an angry person.. But here's a really scary thing... I SAW this episode of the Ed Sullivan show, and recall this performance !! Or was it a movie I saw ? Well, it looks familiar, Can't recall what this is from

Well this is going to maybe sound strange, however I never heard of this guy either !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-31K0cZ ... ed&search=
I'm having a difficult time discerning between when he goes from chest to head voice and falsetto. "Say it soft, and it's almost like praying" ? Is that middle-voice, head voice, lower range falsetto, or chest voice that's breathy ?

Well, With both ears closed he sounds like me too
Here's a nice Glee arrangement of "You'll never walk alone". Too bad the acoustics get lost in that open large room

Question for the vocalists in here !'
Kert's performance of West Side Story "Maria"..
I'm having a difficult time discerning between when he goes from chest to head voice and makes tje transition to falsetto. "Say it soft, and it's almost like praying" ? Is that middle-voice, head voice -lower range falsetto, or chest voice that's muted by singing in a breathy manner?
Here's the performance again to make it easier for those of you that don't wish to view past performances listed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-31K0cZ ... ed&search=
(The falsetto at the end is quite apparent...Hey, See if you notice Ronnie Reagan in the audience at the end)

I agree with getting rid of aspects that have been sources of altercations in Karaoke Scene. Highest on that list is Critique category currently existing in Singer's Showcase. Perhaps put benefits of "rank" up to a SS participant POLL as well. This means folks such as myself would have no say, and no vote in a poll regarding axing or keeping these categories in SS.. Those of us that don't sub in SS, really should have no say in what WE feel is beneficial in such a capacity. While we might have opinions based on being old-timers in here, and having seen alot, and while we attempt to help, I feel a poll regarding aspects of SS should ONLY be left to those of you that actively participate in SS..
To keep things fair, perhaps a poll should be written up among participants and phrased not in a way as to how people INDIVIDUAL feel regarding the "C" category, however whether or not they feel in such a site the "C" category has been BENEFICAL OVERALL to the site. Sure some like the category, but some that like the category, (or most that can go either way) also recognise the problems ensuing as a result of few being able to handle a "Critique", hence comments alone should suffice, perhaps after a chill period those that wish for critique can type out in their description box... "I would really wish for you to critique me", however that must be deliberately asked for. If group votes to ax the category, there will no longer be such an easily accessible category to exploit.
Also in this poll "Would you participate more or less without a rank category" ? "Does rank really matter to you", do you feel having rank creates competition that might be counterproductive to the site" ? Just stuff such as this... Factors only participants in SS should partake in.. A democratic vote among those active on the site, recognising that EVERYONE is entitled to their opinions on this issue who participates.. People should vote in the poll, answer questions in ONE post only, NOT respond or allude to another persons comments, but just answer on their own addressing noone individual, or getting into a battle as to "culprits", and NOT go on and on regarding "well maybe that would work too".....
See if the group of all participants feels as majority vote, that SS would be a more harmonious environment without creating a competitive possible source of friction such as "C" and rank. Whether or not the problem IS or IS NOT the category vs those that can't handle it.... That's moot... Problem is..OVERALL, are the aforementioned categories where the problems are coming from that at one time or another affect most.
JMO
MUSIC CAN BE FUN without competition. Sharing can exist without casting judgement on others performance...
(plus I stole this from Charmin because I need to boost the membership in this thread) ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif) ..
Plus, on a personal note, the cut-throat, competing aspects of an art CAN (when not kept in perspective) ruin an individuals love of the art. Competition, and business crap in music nearly killed my love of the only thing in life I've steadily enjoyed throughout. People can share without a heirarchy of who's best, and whether or not I or you need to improve, and why.. Historically over and over again, it's been proven that FEW really want a Critique, and few want to be a horrid 9.1 amongst a group where everyone else is 9.8 - 10++++++++++++++

Reason I brought this over here too, is that I love music. I don't like competing. In a competition or any heirarchy somebody wins, yet at the expense of others NOT winning (or ranking as high) An artform can exist without setting up a competitive environment !
JMO... Put Critique and rank up to SS vote.
Now on a more pleasant note...
D major !!! LOL
Gosh, I love the fact that I have a room where I can chat with myself, and laugh hysterically while getting an education from all the sage expounded !
Now on a lighter note for you Harry Chapin lovers !

Why yes ! Yes this is the PBS thread ! Would you care to make a donation to support entertainment brought to you such as the programming you've been enjoying today only here on this station ? It's the generosity of viewers such as you Chuck2 that enable us to bring you such artists, and memorable concerts such as these. Thanks to your viewing, and generosity. For the generous donation of _____ you also get an Alfred E. Screwman "Your singing is great" T-shirt just like the one pictured to the left of your screen
