By your standards, you could have a 15 person rotation, and if 14 of thoes people sang a Duet with MR. X, Mr. X will sing 15 times in that rotation.

This topic (rotation) has been beaten to death .... BUT
from what I read .....
several of you use an insertion method .... while others add a new singer to the end of the rotation.
Some allow give a spot to each person who then is allowed to do what they wish with "their" spotlight (solo, duet, group song) .... while others say a duet is a turn for both people.
I think there are pros and cons to each of the above, but it seems that whatever we do at shows...... is up to us ...... and if our singers are happy, spending money and having FUN ..... that is all that matters.
If Mr. X ...... uses his spot to sing a solo ...... but is asked to sing a duet with Ms. Z .... then yes, in a rotation that allows each singer a spot ..... he'd sing more than once in a rotation .... but still only have 1 spot to call his own. We run our show allowing every singer a spot, but do have a twice on the stage max .... per round rule...... so Mr. X wouldn't sing more than twice per round.
Rotations are whatever works for the show, club and singers ........ as long as it is FAIR ..... that is most important thing.

Yep, it's not his song. You can have whomever you want, to sing your song with you. Why should I penalize Mr. X? Why would you?
Mr. X will sing his song on his turn in the rotation. It will be counted as his song and only his song. I don't care if he wanted all 25 people in the rotation to sing it with him, and they all have songs in. If Mary wants to sing her song with Mr. X, maybe I should hit her with a baseball bat for thinking something so stupid.
MOST people do not abuse the rotation. Duets are not usually sung to see how many times they can sing in a rotation. They are done to showcase how nice harmony sounds. And maybe they just like the song. And just maybe it will sound good and other people will enjoy it.
Duets are a part of musical history. And they will continue to be. What's the problem with duets? Maybe you should take them out of your book. That will fix the problem. No duets. Can't have anyone sing together at my show. What do you think this is, anyway????? There will be a very heavy price to be paid for such action.
If it's your turn to sing, we are in the USA and I am not going to play God and tell anyone, you have no right to sing with anyone else. If you want to sing and sound like a total a**, it's your song. You are a paying customer and I treat each and every one, equally. It is not my call to make. If he wants to sing with the entire bar on his turn, it's his turn and I will not ever question how anyone wants to use their turn. I will never penalize anyone in the rotation, for singing with someone else.
That makes no sense to me. You sang a duet. So both of you lose a turn. I have seen it countless times where a duet "partner" has reluctantly sang with another person. AS A COURTESY TO THE OTHER PERSON. AND RESPECT. So if you think that they should be penalised for being kind then, let's hang them all. You don't just lose a turn. You're dead. Can't have this kindness thing catching on. Next thing you know, everyone will want to be kind to someone, then what will we have????
If I went to a show where the KJ wanted to play God, I would find another show. Who the H**L are you???????

Well, I'm 36 and my audience knows I'm older. It's hard to hide the hair. I joke and tell people I had silver highlights put in. They laugh. Or, I tell them I have more silver and black, it's like I'm wearing a Raiders helmet. Feel free to use these jokes, folks, I won't charge you.
I'm of a mixed ethnic background so that really helps me. I can be the un-hippest sounding guy that relates well to older more sophisticated people, or I can play some bumpin' music & talk slang & relate to the young homies too. I'm all mixed up, but it can work to my advantage. Sometimes when young people aroudn the bar watch the show and they see me be, talk & act pretty conservative, well wait until I have a conversation with them - they laugh because they see that I'm just blending in with my customers. You have to have versatility. I believe that people aren't too old to be KJ's. You just have to know how to relate to your crowd.

So.....if thirty-six (36) is "OLDER", I have two questions.
- "Older" than what?
- And how should one refer to 61, if 36 is "older"?
