or stated he worked for some big college ?  That's a pretty shallow critique, and lousy communicating skill (especially over the internet) for a person who claims they critique college level.  Not saying he doesn't work for a big college, but being the tuesday evening associate gym instructor for the intramural "Sweating to the Oldies" class, but really a wannabe George Steinbrenner, with pinup posters of Marge Schott over his bed isn't my idea of a person that "Critiques" for money anyplace.  Of course saying he "critiques for money" doesn't mean he's ever had a paid job critiquing during his day off as cafeteria janitor at the Kosher kitchen in Tuskeegee U

Jian,  I agree TOTALLY.   In order to improve there's usually some discomfort risk involved if ego isn't curbed !  I need to learn this myself !  It's part of maturity..

The "10" and "Awesome job dude" doesn't help anyone improve musically, especially when the person saying it didn't even bother to listen to the submitted song, they are just stroking ego out've obligation or scratching someones back so their own narcissistic ego can remain affloat. Now granted in some cases THAT is true, yet when that combo get's handed out over 50% of the time, it tends to lose much of it's value.  IT becomes a dime a dozen cheap, easy way out, no effort involved praise, but sure, if it makes a person feel better, and that's all the person receiving the flowers wants, that's fine I suppose..  Yet people think that's the SS standard, and sure enough, IT IS NOW  :(

 Critique is a humbling experience,  although blows to ones esteem can be minimized by using tact it's meant to be REAL... Of course many would prefer to believe that those giving them a "10" really aren't thinking and telling truth's behind their back sobeit.  One great aspect of the internet is after-all fantasy.

No kidding !  He's been trying to get me to fit him into my busy schedule, and give him more singing lessons ever since.  He doesn't believe that when I said, "Billy you've learned everything I can teach you now, time to go show the world" I meant it.  It's time for him to shed my style of singing, and get his own set of chords !  He needs to learn to stand on his own two feet and stop leaning on his past instructors !

Especially if it's winter down in NZ.  It's not very comfortable rushing out've the shower directly into freezing air naked and soaking wet !  Talk about "shrinkage"  :shock:..

errr Kappy let me answer some of these....we are having summer (such as it is) our seasons are the opposite of yours. So Shrinkage will be minimal
It is unlikely that your boomerange will have island affairs on it as Australia (where the indigenous aborigines live) is a continent and is in no way related to New Zealand, the only thing we have in common is we are both in the southern hemisphere.
And finally does my husband own guns...yes he has his hunting rifle and of course he is a soldier

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't this a thread about critiqueing? How did it get on the topic of showers and stuff. I thought SS was supposed be for fun and now all it's turned into is a giant mud-slinging. I do my best to give the most honest opinion I know how to on any sub I listen to(if I feel I can't be honest, I don't say anything at all) I don't sling mud. I am not going to fluff's someone's ego, just to get them to like me. I don't care if noone likes me. Trust me, I am still my own worst critic. I think it's time to let the mud slinging stop and let people get back to singing for fun.
