Hello,

I have done some Karaoke here and there but on an extremely small scale.  I don't want to get into the business.  I just want a descent system for my wife and I to play around with at home.  I found a Fender Passport P250 used for $400.  Do you think this system will work good for us and is that a good deal?

Any other suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dean

A good buy. A few people who ask before you have been recomended that system.

By the way where did you find it being listed for $400 when the on going price is $699?

Jian,

Thanks for the info.  The system is used.  I just want to make sure that I get the best for the money.

P.S. What is the best way to get a good solid base of songs that are good quality?

Thanks,
Dean

I am on a diffrent format so some one will need to chip in on this one. The site sponser link at the left of this page will give you some idea as to what is on the market.

Do a search for a package called the 'Supercore'.

I was hoping that you would chime in Lonman.  How's the quality of the Supercore songs?  I know a lot of times you get what you pay for.  If you were going to buy it where would you buy it from?

I see a lot of big packages on Ebay.  Is there any there are worth while?

Thanks,
Dean

Supercore song quality is excellent from a musical and detail end. They are, I believe, th e music from the Pioneer laser video disks put to straightforward CDG graphics.

They won't have the dot leadins of the better brands, and they don't have leaders or trailers on the track; but musically, they are really some of the best IMHO.

Overall, I would have to say Supercore is the top value in budget karaoke. DK is th e only one I would put up with them, and that only if you can get those on sale for $5.00 a disk.
(Which you can at this moment do at karaoke.com; you might take the opportunity.)

For home use, they are MORE than adequate.  They do use a compilation of a few different brands, but seem to pick the better versions out of the companies they do use.
I would go to karaoke.com personally.  They have the 2006 pack which has 356 of the most requested songs.  $128, you may be able to find it cheaper on e-bay possibly.

DK Millenium has 1700 songs.   $1 each is a good price.   I paid a lot more for my DK sets.    Like almost $2,500.    For 99 discs.     1800 songs

Any time you can get songs for $1 each or less it's s good deal.

My first choice for songs I list in my book is Pioneer, then DK.  All the other companies fall in after them.

The DK set is pretty good, except it has a very annoyning pan flute melody vocal guideline that is pretty noticeable, DK also seemed to record their versions in different keys - because they thought it would be easier for someone to sing.
You can usually find that set for anywhere from $900-$1200 if you know where to shop.  The ones that are charging more, usually put it on sale every few months for about $900.  Or you can search e-bay, I just saw it for $1100.

I got the Supercore 2006 for $69 thru www.Doowop.com

The Supercore 2007 is available there at $89.  I think its 2 disks less than last year's and only 240 songs?  Check it out.

Good search, for newer stuff, just go with the Monthly series - ie Pop Hits Monthly & Top Hits Monthly.
